House Passes Landmark Health Care Bill

So much for death panels killing your Grandma! Scare tactics and tea parties lost out as the house vote of 220 to 215 passed the health care bill. Now the Senate will be able to begin debate the issue. What helped the Bill pass were the tough new restrictions on abortion coverage in insurance policies to be sold to many individuals and small groups finally secured the votes needed to pass the legislation. They even managed to get one lone Republican vote. A GOP alternative was rejected on a near party line vote of 258-176 because congressional budget analysts said the plan would make no dent in the ranks of the uninsured. After 8 years of war and warmongering it's nice to see something done to help people live better and longer!
