Weapons Of Mass Deliciousness

If you hadn't heard yet Laura Bush has a memoir coming out titled "Spoken From The Heart."

In he book she reveals precious little that one would deem important yet some of her writings did cause a few raised eyebrows. One of the book passages has received some press as of late for it's outlandish claims.

Mrs. Bush asserts in her new memoir that while in Germany for the 2007 G-8 summit, that she believes that she and Dubya injested poison. She intimates that some unseen nefarious band of culinairy terrorists laced their room service with an unknown and untraceable poison!

Here is Laura's depiction of the troubling events ...

"One of our military aides had difficulty walking and a White House staffer lost all hearing in one ear. Exceedingly alarmed, the Secret Service went on full alert, combing the resort for potential poisons."

Here is the problem with Laura's harrowing tale of weapons of mass deliciousness.

Former top aide, Frances Townsend, says that there was "no indication" that the president and his wife consumed intentionally poisoned food. "The truth was ultimately we didn't really believe there was a basis to think they were poisoned... Doctors who treated the delegation "believed it was just a virus, a local virus." Townsend said in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

Despite the final prognosis of the doctors, Mrs. Bush still didn't seem entirely convinced in her memoir, writing: "We never learned if any other delegations became ill, or if ours, mysteriously, was the only one."

Texas Tea Party

Over the weekend Texas state Rep. Leo Berman said the darndest thing ever. While attending the Glenn Beck-headlined "Taking Back America" rally Berman said "I believe that Barack Obama is God's punishment on us".

At the same rally Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert was heard to say that "demons" had invaded Washington and were causing Democrats to mislead voters.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry also made an appearance and called the Tea Party an "army" that was gathering to "take their country back and send a message to this administration, to this Congress,"

Glenn Beck himself said: "Do you believe this is God's land?..."If God is with us, who can possibly stand against us? The answer is no one.

Even the crazy is bigger in Texas...

Tea Party Hypocrites

Big government is taking away our freedom.

Big government is taking away our liberty.

Big government is taking away our independence.

These slogans seem to be the rallying cry of the "Tea Party" enthusiasts.

If this is so, and the the tea-baggers really are so concerned about "big government" overstepping it's boundaries, one must ask why they have remained so quiet about new Arizona immigration law and how it is being implemented. This new law would give the authorities the right to stop any person... for any reason... at any time... anywhere! Even if that person is here legally!

If that isn't big government stomping on an individuals right to freedom and pursuit of happiness then I don't know what is!

I guess the new law is fine with the tea-baggers as long as doesn't inconvenience anyone of their lighter complected brethren.

Armed Man Attempts To Confront President At NC Airport

An armed man named Joseph Sean McVey with a car equipped with police gear, including a siren and flashing lights attempted to confront President Obama at a North Carolina airport on Sunday.

McVey, 23, of Coshocton, Ohio, is charged with going armed in terror of the public. Believe it or not this offense is only considered a misdemeanor.

The heightened security detail saw McVey get out of his car with a sidearm. Both airport police and the Secret Service questioned him after which he was taken into custody.

McVey's car was equipped with clear LED law enforcement-style strobe lights in the front and rear dash. The car also had a mounted digital camera in the front window, four large antennas on the trunk lid, and under the steering wheel was a working siren box.

McVey was observed listening to a handheld scanner and radio that had a remote earpiece to monitor local agencies. In addition McVey had formulas for rifle scopes on a note in his cup holder. The police did not immediately elaborate on what the formulas might mean.

McVey gave authorities an invalid Ohio driver's license. His hometown of Coshocton is about halfway between Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio.

When asked him what he was doing, McVey said he heard the president was in town and wanted to see him.

McVey is being held at the Buncombe County jail on $100,000 bond.

Something tells me a great deal of interesting information will come out about McVey and his associations over the next few days.

The Supreme Court Decides In Favor Of Animal Torture

In an 8 to 1 ruling today the Supreme Court struck down the federal law that makes it illegal to sell photos or videos of animals being tortured and killed. In other words, the Supreme Court justices say it's just dandy to make money off the maiming, mutilation and death of any and all animals.

I asked myself how could they could have come to this decision. Their answer is that it is legal and all above board on the grounds that it is considered free speech.

The case revolves around a man Virginia man named Robert J. Stevens who advertised videos depicting pit bulls fighting, maiming, mutilating and killing each other as well as various defenseless animals. He would then attempt to sell these videos in "Sporting Dog Journal," an underground publication for dog fighting enthusiasts. Stevens was initially jailed for his role in the heinous videos but appealed to the Supreme Court. Because of the courts ruling Stevens has been freed to continue with his work of making and marketing the torture videos under the protection that it is free speech.

I thought I understood what free speech meant but since when is the mutilation of cats and dogs covered by it.

The 8 Justices voted to strike down the decade old law which had been created to counter the production and sale of "crush videos" in which small animals such as kittens and puppies are tortured and mutilated for the viewers sexual enjoyment. Claiming that the law was too broad, Justice John Roberts said that, the law could allow prosecutions for selling photos of out-of-season hunting... Hey Roberts, You're officially full of shit and as well as the other justices who voted to kill this law!

Making money off an illegal act should be illegal end of fucking story.

Think about this... The next time a scum-bag who has been busted for selling child pornography challenges his sentence under this ruling you'll all know who to thank. After all he didn't commit the crime of child molestation he just made a living selling the images and videos of it... Right?

If you were interested, the only Justice who has any sense of decency and voted against striking down the law, was Samuel Alito.

If this story has upset you then please write to our local Congressman or woman to enact a new, more targeted law, to prevent trafficking in photos and videos depicting acts of severe animal cruelty, including these so-called "crush" videos. Please pass this on to your friends and family so we can try to spread awareness of the situation and ultimately end this sickening practice.

National Day Of Prayer Ruled Unconstitutional

A U.S. District Judge in Wisconsin has deemed that the annual National Day of Prayer is in fact unconstitutional. You know, it's that whole pesky separation of church and state thingy. As a completely non-religious person this news sits well with me but in my gut I know it will only serve as a rallying cry for the religious right.

Even though the National Day Of Prayer does not specify any certain religion and President Obama says he will recognize the day anyway, it is a given that the far right Christians will use this to gin up their seemingly always terrified base.

Giving the religious right one more reason to cry foul is something none of us need. I can almost hear the Tea-Party patriots scribbling away at their new signs right now!

Army Birthers Face Court Martials

Lt. Col. Terry Lakin is an army doctor who has served his country loyaly for 18 years yet is facing a court martial for disobeying a direct order. His predicament is self imposed. You see Larkin is refusing to deploy to Afghanistan because he has not seen a copy of the president's birth certificate therefore he does not believe Obama is the President of the United States. This Larkin believes renders President Obama's orders to deploy to combat illegal.

Lt. Col. Terry Lakin is not alone. Last year U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook and Capt. Connie Rhodes challenged their deployments under the same delusion that Larkin harbors.

Here is how the case breaks down in their minds... Because President Obama wasn't really born in the United States he is not the president (and thus isn't the commander in chief). If Barack Obama isn't the real Commander In Chief the soldier "would be acting in violation of international law by engaging in military actions outside the United States under this President's command. ... simultaneously subjecting himself to possible prosecution as a war criminal by the faithful execution of these duties."

Lakin is a member of a fringe group known as "birthers". This is a group that does not believe that President Obama was born in the United States despite extensive evidence to the contrary. has done an extensive investigation as did essentially putting the issue to bed. Check out the highlighted links if you have any lingering doubt at all.

Yet, birthers are such an untrusting/delusional bunch that despite the overwhelming proof that President Barack Obama was indeed born in these United States they for some reason either refuse or are unable to wrap their brains around it.

Lakin has thrown away a distinguished 18 year career of service for nothing.

I believe mental evaluations should be performed on these individuals. I think the findings would be enlightening to say the least.

Here is the Birth Certificate of President Barack Obama...

Beck says Obama will find a "gay, handicapped, black woman, who's an immigrant"

As I am sure you have all heard by now Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens has announced his retirement today. Even though this is still quite a ways off a lot of chatter about who might replace him has taken place. Today Glenn Beck chimed in with his usual measured take on what Obama might be looking for in a replacement to Justice Stevens. Here is a taste of his insight...

"he'll (Obama) find "a gay, handicapped black woman, who's an immigrant.... She could be the devil. She could say, 'I hate America. I want to destroy America.' And that way, they'll only be able to say, 'Why do you hate gay, immigrant, black handicapped women. Why do you hate them?'

Listen to Glenn here...

Is this truly how far the level of republican discourse surrounding the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice has fallen... How sad for us all.

Virginia Is For Lov... Er... I Mean Racists!

One would think that in our current tense racial climate, where African American congressmen are assaulted on their way to work with shouts of the "N" word and others are spat on by ignorant bystanders, a person in politics would trend towards ethnic sensitivity.

If you are one of those people who believe that now would not be the time to fan the flames of racial tension then you are most likely not Republican Governor Of Virginia Bob McDonnell.

You see Gov. McDonnell, has deemed it an appropriate time to declare April Confederate History Month‎.

The Governor in his infinite wisdom deemed it a peachy time to celebrate this "glorious" event in American history. McDonnell however made what some might consider a "major omission".

Gov. McDonnell did mention that the Civil War was:

"a four-year war between the states for independence"

He did mention that the occupants of those states:

"Fought for their homes and communities and Commonwealth"

He did mention that Virginians could appreciate the fact that Confederate soldiers were:

"ultimately overwhelmed by the insurmountable numbers and resources of the Union Army"

What he did not mention even once was...Wait for it

Once it became apparent that Governor McDonnell was going to be in hot water over the racial and ethnic insensitivity of his actions he explained that "there were any number of aspects to that conflict between the states. Obviously, it involved slavery but it also involved other issues. McDonnell went on to say that he decided to "focus on the ones (issues) he thought were most significant for Virginia."

In other words slavery wasn't all that "significant" an issue.

Now and only now is Gov. McDonnell apologizing for the now "glaring omission" of slavery.

"McDonnell has issued the following statement...

"The proclamation issued by this Office designating April as Confederate History Month contained a major omission. The failure to include any reference to slavery was a mistake, and for that I apologize to any fellow Virginian who has been offended or disappointed."

McDonnell's two Democratic predecessors, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, refused to issue such proclamations while previous Republican governors George Allen and Jim Gilmore did. In 2002, Warner broke with their actions, calling the proclamations, a 'lightning rod' that did not help bridge the gap between whites and blacks in his state."

Oh poor white Republicans of Virginia... it must be so hard to break with your racist traditions when they're so indelibly etched into your core beliefs. If this is by any chance an incorrect statement on my part prove me wrong by denouncing your Governor's tone deaf action of reinstating the celebration of Confederate History Month. We're all waiting....

Here They Are... The Face Of Your 2010 Republican Leaders...

Health Care Adversaries Proving They're Dumb As A Bag Of Rocks

I think this exchange between radio talk show host Alan Combs and a Florida doctor named Jack Cassell sums up just how uneducated, biased and uninformed the nut job opposition contingency to health care reform really is. Cassel is the Urologist who is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame for putting up a sign on his office door reading: “If you voted for Obama seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your health care begin right now, not in four years". Here is the transcript of a very telling moment in the doctors appearance with Alan Colms`...

COLMES: Do you really think the government wants people dead?

CASSELL: Well I think that they’re cutting all supportive care, like nursing homes, ambulance services –

COLMES: What do you mean they’re cutting nursing homes?

CASSELL: They’re cutting nursing home reimbursements.

COLMES: Isn’t what they’re cutting under the Medicare plan what was really double dipping; they were getting credits and they were getting to deduct them at the same time.

CASSELL: Well you know, I can’t tell you exactly what the deal is.

COLMES: If you can’t tell us exactly what the deal is, why are you opposing it and fighting against it?

CASSELL: I’m not the guy who wrote the plan.

COLMES: But if you don’t know what the deal is why are you speaking out against something you don’t know what the deal is?

CASSELL: What I get online, just like any other American. What I’m supposed to understand about the bill should be available to me.

COLMES: It is; it’s been online for a long time; it’s also been all over the media.

Colmes later pointed out that the National Association of Home Care and Hospice actually praised the new law.

I think John Stewart form The Daily Show summed it up best on when he said that the doctor is in essence saying that if you voted for Barack Obama he will not touch your penis... On the other hand, if you voted for John McCain he will most definitely touch your penis!

McCain Claims He's Not A Maverick....?

John Mccain has claimed in an interview with Newsweek's David Margolick that he never considered himself a maverick. Here is McCain's direct quote...

"I never considered myself a maverick," McCain told Newsweek's David Margolick in an interview in which he seems to distance himself from his trademark moniker. "I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities."

I know he's getting up their in years but he can't have forgotten his 2008 presidential run in which he plastered this ad all over the airwaves.

Lest we forget ourselves, it was only last month that Sarah Palin, touted the Arizona senator's "maverick" status, referring to "McCain the Maverick" four times in 15 minutes at a campaign rally in Tuscon.

Christians Militia Groups Are Going To Save You From The Antichrist... By Killing Police Officers

A right-wing, anti-government extremist group named the Hutaree were planning a violent attack in April. According to the federal indictment the group was planning to "kill a member of law enforcement after a traffic stop, kill a member of law enforcement and his or her family at home, ambush a member of law enforcement in rural communities, lure a member of law enforcement with a false 911 emergency call and then kill him or her, and kill a member of law enforcement and then attacking the funeral procession motorcade"

Why would they do this you ask. Well it's simple. It's to save all true believers from the antichrist.

By the way did I forget to mention that in a Harris Poll 24% of Republicans believe that President Obama May be the Anti-Christ.

Anyhoo, these "Hutaree" describe themselves as "Christian warriors", and had used it's website to declare war on law enforcement and all "foot soldiers" of the federal government. They are driven by biblical teachings that call on Christians to take up arms in defense of the one true church of Christ.

Video from the group's website,, shows them training in the woods wearing camouflage and carrying weapons.

All nine members of the Hutaree were named in the indictment have been captured by the law enforcment they and planned to murder. .

This is just the latest chapter in what has been an explosive growth among far-right, militia-type groups that identify themselves as white supremacists, "constitutionalists," tax protesters and religious soldiers determined to kill people to uphold "Christian" values.

I guess to these "true believers" nothing says "Christian values" like murdering a cop...
