Republican Strike Down 9/11 First Responders Heath Care Bill

create avatar
House Republicans defeated the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act that would have provided up to $7.4 billion in aid to those sickened by toxins resulting from the 9/11 attacks.

Republicans claimed they just couldn't vote for it because the Democrats wanted the Bill to pass with a a two-thirds majority vote thus disallowing frivolous amendments to the added to the bill. In other words, the Democrats feared that the GOP would attach something overtly partisan in hopes that it could pass on such a popular bill.

In the process set off a tirade from Democratic colleague Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y), whose district includes many of the affected. Weiner spoke right before the vote when it was clear that Republican lawmakers would stake their opposition on grounds of procedural concerns.

Observe his righteous meltdown here...

The defeat of the bill will likely means that the court system will have to settle compensation issues.

Will Someone Explain This To Me...

The Republicans are pretending that they are all in a tizzy about letting the Bush tax cuts for the richest 2% expire. OK. This I understand. It's political posturing at it worst but at least I understand it. This way come the november elections they can use the tired line that the Democrats raised taxes. Dishonest, yes, but simple enough to understand.

Now here's the part I don't understand.

In their best chicken little impersonation the Republicans are claiming that if The Obama administration allows the Bush Tax cuts that it would cause the economy to break down leading to record deficits and record job loss.

Here's are the 3 points where I begin to have trouble following the Republicans logic.

First of all, the Democrats don't plan on repealing all the tax cuts. In fact they only plan on stopping the cuts to the top 2% of the wealthiest among us.

Secondly, this is exactly how the Republicans planed it when they passed by the tax cuts through the dreaded reconciliation, (So they could use it as a mid-term election issue... Yes they plan that far ahead!).

Finally, when the cuts were enacted in both 2001 and 2003 the economy, for the most part, was robust and the job market was strong. Bush even went so far as to say this is what you do when you have budget surpluses like the ones Clinton left him. In the ensuing years since the cut our economy, stock market and job creation have tanked so badly that we were almost plunged into a second great depression. How is arguing that rolling back the tax cuts to the level they were at when we were experiencing a boom in the overall American economy not nonsensical. That type of logic would seem would fly in the face of reason.

Even co-director of Princeton University's Center for Economic Policy Studies Alan Blinder disagrees with the Republicans way of thinking. Binder says of the tax cuts for the wealthy: "We could get some substantial job creation by simply reprogramming the $75 billion that would be saved over the next two years by not extending the upper-bracket Bush tax cuts and spending it instead on unemployment benefits, food stamps, and the like."

So there it is. If there are any republicans reading this... could you please explain how this works.

The Mad Republican Tea Party

Here's a funny and all too true video I came across on a humor site...

How To Stir Up Racial Hatred Through Video Editing...

Shirley Sherrod speaking to the NAACP in 2009

In, what is without a doubt, retaliation for the black eye the NAACP gave the Tea Party a right wing racist named Andrew Breitbart has committed a fraud in order to exact revenge.

Former Dept. of Agriculture official Shirley Sherrod spoke to the NAACP on July 25th, 2009. In her speech Sherrod was discussing her confrontation with her own prejudice 30 years earlier when she was faced with having to help a white man save his farm. She says in her speech how she was conflicted by feelings raised in her concerning black families loosing their farms and how they had no one to help them. Sherrod then discusses how she may not have given the white man and his family her full attention or help. She goes on to tell of her change of heart about the situation presented to her. The resolution of the story is that in the end not only did she realized her mistake but she helped the family save their farm and then became life long friends with the man and his family.

An uplifting story about a woman facing her prejudices and overcoming them.

Andrew Breitbart, best known as the Editor for the Drudge Report and owner of the Right wing website Breitbart.com didn't think you should hear the story in it's truest form. In fact he believes that you should despise Shirley Sherrod... With the proper editing of course.

Here is the doctored footage...

Here is the full unedited video...

What Berietbart has done is butcher the tape so you never get to hear the resolution of the story. The tape only show the initial feelings Sherrod struggled with. The end result is that Shirley Sherrod comes off looking like a heartless racist. Just what Andrew Breitbart wanted.

With his actions Breitbart has reserved his spot in history just underneath Mark Williams of the Tea Party Express as the lowest form of humanity.

Sarah Palin calls Obama "half white or half Black," wants him to "refudiate" NAACP

Refudiate!!!! Her Stupidity knows no bounds!

If I hear one more Republican refer to the Tea Party as a "Beautiful Movement" I'm gonna' puke... And there's no refutiating that!

Palin wasn't done with the made up word . The Twitter-queen tweeted these gems about a Mosque being built next to the site of the 9/11 attacks in my home town of New York...

Here is the comical tweet reply explaining away here repeated use of the made-up, nonsensical word "refudiate"...

Celebrate stupidity... That's how we wound up first with Bush and now this dullard! UUGGGGH!

Thank You NAACP For Making The Tea Party Your Bitch!

Mark Williams has been given the boot. Up until yesterday Williams was the spokesman for the Tea Party and head of the Tea Party Express. Today he is the first tea-bagger to get sacked for being an unrepentant racist!

I doubt it will be the last we will hear from this bigot but I'm enjoying the development nevertheless!

I must thank Mark Williams thought. It's because of him that it now looks like when the NAACP snaps it's fingers the Tea Party Jumps.

It smells like the beginning of the end...Suckers.

Much Like The Tea Party Their Spokesman Mark Williams Is A Racist... And Really Stupid To Boot!

The NAACP has formally passed a resolution calling on all people — including tea party leaders — to condemn racism within the tea party movement. That's all... Just repudiate the undeniably racist element that exists in your movement.

Rather than denounce racism the Tea party has cried foul and well-known face of the national Tea Party movement Mark Williams has stated that it is, in fact,... (I can barely a maintain straight face)... impossible for there to be a racist element in the tea party. Williams went on to claim that the NAACP is the racist organization and that it was "time groups like the NAACP went to the trash heap of history where they belong...".

Mark Williams has even gone so far as to write a mock letter to President Abramam Linclon in the voice of NAACP chairman Ben Jealous to prove how UN-racist both he and the Tea Party are.

Here are some excerpts from said letter...
Dear Mr. Lincoln

We Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don't cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!

The tea party position to "end the bailouts" for example is just silly. Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn't that what we want all Coloreds to strive for? ... What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds!

And the ridiculous idea of "reduce[ing] the size and intrusiveness of government." What kind of massa would ever not want to control my life? As Coloreds we must have somebody care for us otherwise we would be on our own, have to think for ourselves and make decisions!

The racist tea parties also demand that the government "stop the out of control spending." Again, they directly target Colored People. That means we Colored People would have to compete for jobs like everybody else and that is just not right.

Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government "stop raising our taxes." That is outrageous! How will we Colored People ever get a wide screen TV in every room if non-coloreds get to keep what they earn? Totally racist! The tea party expects coloreds to be productive members of society?

That, my friends, is a special kind of racism.

You would think that the person who wrote this would crawl into a hole after seeing the understandable backlash it has caused both him and his beloved Tea Party.

You would be mistaken.

On Friday Williams said that the blog post did what he intended. "What I did was successful, and I'm glad it was successful. I'm sorry I had to go to those lengths to slap some sense into a lot of people who are so afraid of politically incorrect language that we can't get a conversation started," Williams told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.

Williams is of course mistaken. Even those who follow him on his website are mortified by his actions. Take for instance Jim.

A man listed only as Jim wrote on Mark Williams website regarding his "Letter to Lincoln" post...

Unfortunately, due to your status within the Tea Party movement, you probably just set back the entire movement by giving several sticks of wood, a match and a can of gasoline to those on the Left (which, obviously includes the MSM) who love to promote the “Tea Party is racist” meme.

Jim, you are 100% correct!

What I love most about Mark Williams' "Dear Mr. Lincoln" letter is that he wrote it to prove that both he and the Tea Party are not racists yet the letter itself is proves that they are exactly what they protest not to be. Unmitigated racists. It's classic.

Just for fun here here are a few other gems Williams has spouted off in the last few months...

Williams called President Obama an “Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief.” And in February, he called Obama “our half white, racist president.”

Williams called the Muslim god Allah a “terrorists’ monkey-god”

In a blog post from last year that has since been deleted, Williams further explained his theory on Islam:

"Repeat after me: Islam is a 7th Century Death Cult coughed up by a psychotic pedophile and embraced by defective, tail sprouting, tree swinging, semi-human, bipedal primates with no claim to be treated like human beings or even desirable mammals for that matter.

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Here is the full Mark Williams' "Dear Mr. Lincoln" letter...

Dear Mr. Lincoln

We Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don't cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!

In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week. We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the 'tea party movement'.

The tea party position to "end the bailouts" for example is just silly. Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn't that what we want all Coloreds to strive for? What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds! Of course, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is the only responsible party that should be granted the right to disperse the funds.

Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house. Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we belong.

Sincerely

Precious Ben Jealous, Tom's Nephew National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Head Colored Person

Ed Martin Says: Democrats Are Keeping You From Jesus!

Ed Martin, a Republican candidate for Congress in Missouri, has said in a radio interview that President Obama and Rep. Russ Carnahan are trying to interfere with America's freedom to worship Jesus Christ

I wish I were kidding...

Martin has also said that Carnahan's sister Robin is doing the "devil's work" as Secretary of State.

Again, I wish I were kidding.

Martin spewed this inane garbage in an interview on conservative talk radio on "The Dr. Gina Show".

Martin went on to say that the growth of government endangers religious freedom and the "ultimate freedom ... to get your salvation." "And I think that's one of the things that we have to be very, very aware of that the Obama Administration and Congressman Carnahan are doing to us".

Here's the transcript...

One thing I like to say is: America is great, not because of our genetics. We're great because we created a place and space where people can be free. And they can choose Christ, they can choose to be faithful. They can worship, and they find their way to the Lord. And -- or some of them don't. We sure want them all to, but some of them don't.

Part of that freedom -- when you take a government and you impose, and take away all your choices. One of the choices you take away is to find the Lord. And to find your savior. And that's one of the things that's most destructive about the growth of government. It's this taking away of that freedom. The freedom -- the ultimate freedom, to find your salvation, to get your salvation. And to find Christ, for me and you. And I think that's one of the things that we have to be very, very aware of. That the Obama Administration and Congressman Carnahan are doing to us.

Listen to it here...

Pandering To The Lowest Common Denominator

Last Thursday, while speaking at a rally for Colorado senate hopeful Ken Buck, Tom Tancredo went off script and gurgitated this now famous rant...

“We had that threat, we survived it. Later we found out we had another threat to our way of life and that was al-Qaeda... But I firmly believe this... The greatest threat to the United States today, the greatest threat to our liberty, the greatest threat to the Constitution of the United States, the greatest threat to our way of life; everything we believe in. The greatest threat to the country that our founding fathers put together is the man that's sitting in the White House today.”

So according to Tom President Barak Obama is a greater threat to America than al-Qaeda... ((Sigh))

The insane comments raised eyebrows around the country, and Ken Buck initially distanced himself from Tancredo's comments. Not soon after Buck denounced Tancredo's screed he was pummeled by an angry Tea Partiers whom did not like Buck sending back his serving of red meat.

In the meantime, this gave his Senate seat challenger, Jane Norton, a window of opportunity to give the teabaggers and Tancredo a wet sloppy one.

Norton jumped into the fray with this pearl...

“There was a real measure of truth in what Tancredo said,” she said in a statement. “It’s time to end the culture of political correctness. Obama’s brand of big government is a threat to America.”

When Buck heard that the Tea Partiers were displeased with his stance and that his rival was sucking up to them he quickly changed his tune. Buck has returned volley with this gem...

"...I think the largest threat we really have is the progressive liberal movement. I think if Barack Obama stepped down tomorrow, we would still have that threat."

And the pandering continues....

I Am Dumbfounded....

I'm not going to say a word.... I will let Limbaugh speak for himself.

"Well, you know, those people suffered the indignity of slavery, discrimination, segregation and so forth.' He said somebody else said, 'This is payback,' meaning, 'All right, look. We don't care if it's the New Black Panthers or whoever it is. Black people in this country have never, ever had a fair shake. This is payback. O.J. Simpson was payback.

Yes, Limbaugh is saying that Barack Obama created the recession as payback for slavery....

Earlier this week Limbaugh also claimed that Obama "wouldn't have been voted president if he weren't black" and that "If Obama weren't black he'd be a tour guide in Honolulu"

I am speechless....

It's A Record...

BP's massive oil spill became the largest ever in the Gulf of Mexico.

The oil flowing into gulf waters hit 140.6 million gallons, compared with 140 million for the Ixtoc spill which was the previous record holder.
