Allen West Is An Asshole!

Palm Beach County GOP, Rep. Allen West (R-Fla) has always struck me as something of an asshole. He seems tightly wound to put it mildly. Given he has a raging hate on constantly it's not hard to understand why the Tea Partiers like him so much.

For those of you who aren't familiar with West here is an incident from when he was in the military that pretty much sums up who he is.

While serving in Taji, Iraq, West had his men detained a civilian Iraqi police officer named Yahya Jhodri Hamoodi whom they believed was planning an attack of some kind.

West, who was not responsible for conducting interrogations in Iraq and had never conducted nor witnessed one decided he should interrogate Hamoodi anyway.

During this interrogation Hamoodi was beaten by four soldiers about the head and body. After the beating West decided he should fire his pistol next to Hamoodi's head. After being tortured by West and the 4 soldiers Hamoodi provided West with names and information, which he later described as "meaningless information induced by fear and pain." No plans for attacks or weapons were ever found.

West said "At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It's possible that I was wrong about Mr. Hamoodi."

West was later charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

He was ultimately forced into retirement and fined $5,000.

West is quite the charmer.

This incident was just the thing to get Allen elected by an adoring Tea Party in Florida where he continues to charm.

Here is what I can only assume is West's latest entry into the asshole of the year award...Speaking to a Lincoln Day Dinner in West Palm Beach for the Palm Beach County GOP, Rep. Allen West (R-Fla) opened his asshole mouth and said spoke this asshole statement:.

"We need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, (audience boos) and my dear friend the chairman of the Democrat National Committee, we need to let them know that Florida ain't on the table," West then went on to say: "Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America."

West finally added, "Yeah I said 'hell.'"

Keep up that charm offensive Allen you're just what the party ordered!

Republican Debate Hate

With the wrap up of the 19th Republican debate and not another one in site until the end of February let's pause and take a look back. When the games began the debates were brimming with bright eyed 2012 presidential candidate hopefuls. There of course was Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick "frothy" Santorum and Ron Paul. Let's also take a moment to remember those that fell by the wayside. We had Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Tim Pawlenty, Jon Huntsman and even Gary Johnson.

Let us not forget the most important members of the debates... The ever respectful Republicans in the audience. A video produced by Ben Craw shows us why they were the real shining stars of the show!

Conservatives Mutilate Rival Campaign Manager's Pet Cat

Sorry for the disturbing picture but there was no other way to convey this image.

Arkansas political campaign manager, Jacob Burris, says he was shocked to discover his family pet with its head bashed in and the word "liberal" scribbled across the dead body in paint.

Burris has serves as Ken Aden's campaign manager who is currently running for Arkansas' 3rd Congressional District.

Burris said in an official statement: "To kill a child's pet is just unconscionable... As a former combat soldier, I've seen the best of humanity and the worst of humanity. Whoever did this is definitely part of the worst of humanity."

Burris told the Blue Arkansas Blog that one of his younger children found the pet.

I find myself hating Republicans and conservatives even more than I thought I could.

Ronald Reagan with David Stockman

David Stockman was on "UP With Chris Hayes" this weekend. At the end of every show Hayes asks his guests the question "What should people know".

As President President Reagan’s director of the Office of Management and Budget I think Stockman's answer was very telling. He said that "three big things need to be changed".

Here are the three he listed...

1) "We need to dismantle the WARfare state and get out of all of these adventurisms"

2) "We need to raise taxes across the board"

3) "We need to get rid of discretionary (spending) activities such as the agricultural department"

The first two of these three seem completely antithetical to today's Republican party to such a degree that if Regan dare utter them he would be labeled a socialist and anti-American.

You tell 'em Ronny!

Newts Unbelievable Hypocrisy

Yesterday news dropped that Newt Gingrich asked his 2nd wife, Marianne, to engage in an "open marriage" because he was having an affair with a with his congressional aide (his present wife Callista) at the time. This, in my mind, makes it a legitimate news story and given that there was a Republican debate the very night the news broke it seemed only fair that Gingrich be asked about the subject.

Well..... Funny thing.

When moderator John King asked Newtie about his alleged sexual peccadilloes he bristled at the him and at first said "No" but after a standing ovation from the hyper conservative crowd he continued with his obviously prepared answer saying: “I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office,” .

Watch Newt's unrighteous indignation here...
Really! This coming from the nasty prick who dogged President Clinton over a blow job all the time having an adulterous affair simultaneously! His actions were every bit as "destructive, vicious" and "negative" as those he claims are being levied at him. The only reason he stopped was that he was forced to resign in 1998 for no less than 84 ethics violations.

One last question... Did John King not realize or remember that Gingrich was the Speaker Of The House when the Republicans were trying to (and succeeding in) impeaching Bill Clinton over an affair and if he did why did he not nail him!?!?!

Why Are Obama's Critics So Dumb?

This is the cover Newsweek chose to go with for a story written by writer Andrew Sullivan about President Obama that appears within the magazine.

It might be the... Best... Cover... Ever!
It has been said that Sullivan's article might be a bit more nuanced.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Huntsman Drops Out And I Know Why

Many of the pundits and talking heads are attributing Jon Huntsman's drop from the GOP political race to the fact that he didn't appeal to the base. They attribute this to the fact that Huntsman didn't throw enough red meat, talk the crazy talk or walk the crazy walk enough for them.

I think this may indeed be the reason why he didn't catch on with the the tea party or the GOP establishment but I don't believe that's the reason why he dropped out of the race.

Here my thoughts on the subject...

If you been watching Comedy Central at all you know that comedian Stephen Colbert has recently announced his run for "President of South Carolina" which happens to be his home state. After the announcement he turned his Citizens United mocking Colbert Super Pack over to Jon Stewart of the Daily Show seeing as how a candidate in the GOP race can not run a super pack as well as run for President. This in turn frees up Stewart to run ads for Colbert if he sees fit to do so.

Here is the hilarious clip....

Now given the amount of money that I believe has been raised for Colbert Super Pack and that he's was already polling better than Jon Huntsman even before entering the race this left Huntsman with no option but to drop out. It was either this or finish a distant fifth behind Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Stephen Colbert (Not necessarily in that order). That would've been an embarrassment even Huntsman couldn't live down (especially if he want's to try another run in 2016).

As Colbert lays bare the ridiculousness of this Republican race as well as the entire political process (due to the travesty of the Supreme courts Citizens United decision) the rest of the GOP candidates will drop by the wayside as well. Good riddance

Death to Citizens United.... Long live Stephen Colbert!

Good Econony = Bad Republican Reaction

Today the December jobs report came in better than expected with nonfarm payrolls increasing by 200K and unemployment rate dropping to 8.5%.

This is the lowest unemployment rate in almost three years, and led economists to conclude that the improvement in the job market might just last.

In addition It was the sixth month in a row that the economy added at least 100,000 jobs, the longest streak since 2006. The economy added jobs every month last year, the first time that has happened since 2005.

The last 2 years shape up like this...
  • In 2010 940,000 jobs were added and the unemployment rate was 9.6 percent.
  • In 2011 1,600,000 jobs were added and the unemployment rate was 8.9 percent.
Here is a chart of how it looks since Obama has taken office (just in case you didn't think the stimulus worked)...
Someone with a reasonable grasp of mathematics would look at these numbers and conclude that the economy was on the right track. Someone with a reasonable grasp on reality also might come to that conclusion. Unfortunately the Republicans have lost their grip on both.
  • Mitt Romney says "35 consecutive months of unemployment above 8 percent is no cause for celebration."
  • Newt Gingrich dismissed the job gains as inadequate, saying "there are still 1.7 million fewer Americans going to work than when Obama was elected."
  • Rick Santorum says the improvement in the job picture came "despite the president's jobs policy," and suggested that it might have to do with voters' optimism that a Republican would win the White House.
  • RNC Chairman Reince Priebus says: "President Obama ... promised he could fix the economy with an $825 billion stimulus that was supposed to keep unemployment below 8 percent. Instead of fixing it, he made things worse."
This incredible pessimism betrays the GOP's worst fear which is that the economy is really turning around. This is a frightening proposition since they know their only hope to beat President Obama in 2012 is a continuing bad economy. With that realization it is easy to understand why they continually hope for Americans to remain unemployed and our counties economy to fail.

How Much Did Each Candidate Pay Per Vote In Iowa?

Santorum Doesn't Want To Help "Blah" People!

Lest we forget what an out of touch, right wing, conservative whacko Rick "man on dog" Santorum is at least we will always have his words to remind us. He has proven himself to be extreme on everything from abortion to birth control to alternate lifestyles and finally (but not limited to) to minorities as this little gem from Santorum so vividly proves.

On Monday in Iowa, at a campaign speech, Rick Santorum said “I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money. I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money”.

It's as plain as day what he said and it is what he believes. In his mind no white people are helped by government. It's only the "black" people who are on the government dole taking all the white people's money. By the way only 9% of people on food stamps in Iowa are black, 84% are white.

Watch the real Santorum ooze out here...
Now when Santorum was first asked about it, by CBS’s Scott Pelley, he didn't deny it. Santorum first said “I’ve seen that quote, I haven’t seen the context in which that was made,” How do you watch a clip of yourself and not know the context?!?! Santorum then told Pelle that he was watching a movie named 'Waiting For Superman" which is about inner city youth which I guess, in his mind, explains away why he said what he said (since inner city = black people).

Later on when asked about it on both CNN and Fox News he claimed it was all a mistake. Santorum now claims he misspoke and mumbled the word 'Blah". His weak ass explanation now is: “I’ve looked at that quote, in fact I looked at the video. In fact, I’m pretty confident I didn’t say black. I started to say is a word and then sort of changed and it sort of — blah — mumbled it and sort of changed my thought.”

Watch the feeble attempt at explaining the gaffe here...
And here...
Now in my humble opinion I believe it was more likely Ricky started to say black people and caught himself causing it to come out mumbled and not the other way around. That being said I don't think Santorum should count on receiving the "blah" vote if he is the Republican nominee.

Pat Robertson's 2012 Predictions

Someone has to ship this putz off to the nuthouse

Before we get started, just so you know, Pat says god has told him who will be elected President in 2012, but says he won't tell us who it is... How convenient.

But that's not the most important thing god had told Robertson in their little chat.

It seems that god has told him that the destruction of America is nigh! The big man upstairs has relayed to his mortal servant that we will be "torn apart" and that we should expect "chaos and paralysis" and "maximum stress and peril".

Robertson then proceeds to reel off a bat-shit insane list he made for god and then tells the almighty to let him know which of them will do us in...

* Actual list:

An EMP blast... No!

Cosmic solar radiation blast... No!

The Mayan galaxy alignment... No

An Iranian or North Korean nuclear attack... No!

Earthquake or volcano... No!

A massive power failure... No!

Here's the kicker... It's none of them! Have you guessed yet who god told Pat was going to destroy America.

That's right it's... an economic collapse brought on by the "radical, radical, radical" Barack Obama!!!!!!!!

Enjoy the performance here...
