"Ain't No Homos Gonna Make It To Heaven"

Why do I reject religion? I guess it's for the same reason that I reject any group that hold themselves as superior to others and uses some made up idiotic belief system to give them the proof they so desperately need.

Another reason I hate these groups is their insidious use of indoctrination.

The congregation in the church the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle Church in Greensburg, Ind is a shining example of that.

Watch as the members of this organization use a helpless child to be their vessel of hatred. The kid is nothing more than an empty shell for them to pour their bigotry and hatred into and the resulting product is portrayed in excruciating form in the following video.

In the clip a child can be heard singing "I know the Bible’s right, somebody’s wrong...ain't no homos gonna make it to heaven." The congregation then gives the child a standing ovation for his troubles. At one point you can even hear his prideful father shout 'That's my boy!".
This is child abuse, this is an embarrassment, this is religious indoctrination at it's worst. This is what I would expect to see at a klan rally or neo-nazi outing.

News Alert: New Study Finds Fox News Viewers Still The Most Uninformed!

Researchers at Fairleigh Dickinson University have once again conducted a study on how informationally challenged the viewers of certain cable news stations are. FDU conducted a similar study in late 2011 but were criticized for only questioning respondents from New Jersey, where the university is located. This time, the researchers updated the study and conducted the poll nationwide.

The poll asked questions about international news (Iran, Egypt, Syria and Greece were included) and domestic affairs (Republican primaries, Congress, unemployment and the Keystone XL pipeline.)

The pollsters found that people were usually able to answer 1.8 out of 4 questions on foreign news, and 1.6 of 5 questions on domestic news, and that people who don't watch any news were able to get 1.22 of the questions on domestic policy right.

As the study explained, though, people who watched only Fox News fared worse: The study found that someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic questions correctly -- a figure which is significantly worse than if they had reported watching no media at all.

Other networks also did badly in some sections. MSNBC viewers and Fox News viewers both fared worse in answering international questions than people who watched no news.

Interestingly though people who only listened to NPR or watched Sunday morning talk shows or "The Daily Show" did the best in the study.

Oh No... Obama Still Born In America!

On Tuesday published a copy of a promotional booklet from Obama's former literary agency. According to a brief biography in the 1991 booklet, Obama was "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii," This set the right wing's hair on fire by exacerbating the rumor that the president is not a natural-born American citizen.

However, Miriam Goderich who wrote Obama's biography in the pamphlet said Thursday that she had misidentified Obama's place of birth.

In an emailed statement Goderich told Yahoo News "This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me--an agency assistant at the time... There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more."

Oh well Birthers, maybe next time. At least you still have America's toughest sheriff, Joe Arpio, still on the case! He just announced that his investigation has deemed that Obama's Birth Certificate is indeed a Forgery!

Shooting Targets Resembling Trayvon Martin Are Being Sold Online

File this one under "I no longer want to live on this planet anymore"

Shooting targets resembling Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teenager shot to death in Florida by Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, were offered for sale online.

The targets featured a silhouette of a faceless person wearing a hooded sweatshirt, known as a hoodie, and holding a bag of Skittles candy and a container of iced tea.
The targets were made and sold by Hiller Armament Company (Hillerarmco) in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The effigies of Martin were sold for $16.50 for 10 targets. The product sold out in 2 days.

When asked for a comment a spokesperson for the company who chose to remain anonymous said: "My main motivation was to make money off the controversy,"

Here's a thought... For Mothers Day why not go over to "Second Chance on Shoot First" and sign their petition opposing "Shoot First" laws.

Here is a message from Trayvon Martins mother if you are still on the fence about it...

How Does Shepard Smith Keep His Job?

Will wonders never cease?

At about 3 p.m. yesterday when the news broke that President Obama had declared his support for gay marriage Fox News anchor Shepard Smith said this: “The president of the United States, now in the 21st century.” He went on to say that the GOP "was sitting very firmly, without any question, on the wrong side of history"

Here is the clip...
Say what you will for the station he works for but I do loves me some Shep Smith!

Obama Decares War!!!

It's war according to Fox Nation's take on President Obama's news that he had endorsed marriage equality. Here was their leading headline yesterday (for awhile).

Update: They were mistaken. Hours later Fox Nation had changed their mind. Maybe they spoke to Sheppard Smith?

Obama Endorses Marriage Equality

History has been made...

In an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts President Barack Obama has for the first time publicly endorsed same sex marriage.

Here are his exact words...

"I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don't Ask Don't Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married,"

This all comes after a week where the subject has been front and center in politics.
  • Then on Sundays Meet The Press with David Gregory Vice President Joe Biden made it abundantly clear that he supported gay marriage saying... "I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties. And quite frankly, I don't see much of a distinction -- beyond that."

North Carolina passes amendment one
It was time the President did this. This is an historic moment in this country's civil rights and it was a long time coming. There is no doubt that the Republicans, the religious, the conservatives, the intolerant and the bigoted factions of this country will salivate over how they can hurt the president with this but I believe it was time to take a stand against hate and think President Obama will be rewarded come November.

Romney Now Takes Credit For The Success Of The Auto Industry's Turnaround

Those are Mitt Romney's exact words. No mention of a managed bankruptcy, no mention of loans, no mention of the dreaded bailout. No, it was his now-infamous New York Times op-ed, which appeared in 2008 under the headline named simply "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt."

Fast forward to present day where the American auto industry is booming and Romney has apparently rewritten history by saying that President Obama actually took his advice about how to save Detroit. In addition Romney now says that when all is said and done he deserves the lion's share of the credit.

Here are his exact words...

"I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally, when that was done, and help was given, the companies got back on their feet. So I'll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry's come back."

Are you fucking kidding me!

Managed bankruptcy my ass. When he says "help was given" what he is really referring to is THE BAILOUT!

You see both General Motors and Chrysler ended up taking massive federal loans supported by both President Obama and former President Bush. While the bailout included managed bankruptcy the truth of the matter is, according to the federal judge who presided over Chrysler's bankruptcy in 2009, neither company would have survived without the bailout.

If anyone has any doubt that what Romney is saying isn't one of the biggest flip flop, lies, untruths, bullshit, garbage, horse shit things Romney has ever uttered watch this...

Because There Is No Republican War On Women

Here are just a few of the repulsively tone deaf things Republican lawmakers have said about abortion recently.

I Love New York

By now everyone knows the story of Mitt Romney's misadventures with his dog Seamus. Here is a quick refresher if you don't...

21 years ago Mitt Romney and his clan set out on a 12-hour drive from Massachusetts to Canada. Not wanting the dog in the car Mitt decided to Romney put Seamus the Irish Setter in a crate fastened to the roof of the car. Despite the fact the Romney's have claimed Seamus loved roof rides, during this particular trip the dog suffered a bout of diarrhea that forced Romney to pull over and hose off the dog as well as the car.

That brings us to today bit of classic bit of New York snark.

To appear patriotic on the one year anniversary of Osama Bin Laden's death Mitt's team thought he should visit some New York firefighters with former mayor Rudy Giuliani. Romney's advisers also thought it would be a nice photo-op to grab some pizzas for his upcoming photo-op.

As Romney exited Joe's Pizza carrying a stack of pizza boxes somebody on the sidewalk shouted, "Just don't put 'em on the roof of the car," according to a tweet from Reuters reporter Sam Youngman.
