Cowardly Republicams Remain Silent In The Shadow Of Falling Gas Prices

As recently as last month the Republicans were claiming President Barack Obama was solely to blame for the rising gas prices around the world. Fox News went so far as to say that Obama engineered the hike in gas prices from the very beginning of this presidency. They wept for the poor Keystone XL pipeline's demise. Pundits for the network bleated out that it was all a nefarious plan to get the country to switch to "green energy". They screeched that "Obama wants to see the price of a gallon of gasoline rise to the European level of $9 or $10" .
  • Newt Gingrich famously said “the American people have a right to demand $2.50 gas,” and that Obama's energy policies were "outrageously anti-American."
  • Rick Santorum said Obama's "radical environmentalist policies," were to blame for gasoline prices to near record highs and threaten to derail the economic recovery.
  • Mitt Romney said in an interview with Fox News, said he "absolutely" believes Mr. Obama is responsible for high gas prices, contending that "he has not pursued policies that convince the world that America is going to become energy secure, energy independent."
  • John Boehner blamed Obama and “radical environmental groups” for high gas prices and went as far as to claim that "gas prices could cost Obama the election"
  • Fox even ran a special named "Paying at the Pump" hosted bu Sarah Palin and Eric Boling in which Boling claimed to have the cure for high gas prices in a sealed envelope that he would reveal at some point in the broadcast. (I missed the airing of the special but I am assuming Obama immediately took Eric's top secret advice)
All this blather poured out of the Fox News machine when anyone with an iota of knowledge of the oil markets (I have exactly one iota by the way) knows that speculators artificially manipulate markets, by buying up oil, creating the perception of a shortage. It supply and demand slight of hand.

Well Funny thing has happened...

Gas prices have plummeted over the last several weeks. In fact oil has settled at a new low today as Crude tumbled below $80 a barrel for the first time since last fall in the light of falling global demand. See how that works everyone at Republicans/Fox News?

Anyway, you can call me an optimist but I am expecting the Republicans to send thank you wishes to President Obama for all the good work he has done in getting gas prices to drop all across the country...

They should be starting any time now...

Any minute...

Still waiting...

Maybe tomorrow...
