Romney Caught On Secret Tape Saying That The Poor "Believe That They Are Victims" And That "My Job Is Not To Worry" About Them

During a private fundraiser of his millionaire donors earlier this year, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told a small group of wealthy contributors what he truly thinks of all the people who voted for Barack Obama. In no uncertain terms he described them as poor and jobless Americans who were freeloaders who paid no taxes, who don't assume responsibility for their lives, and who think government should take care of them.

When asked by a donor about how he could beat Obama in the upcoming election Romney responded with this disdainful bit of nastiness…
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax. And so my job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
Here is the video of Romney essentially crapping all over poor and out of work Americans…
To further drive the point that Romney's base is made up of the 1% when a donor asked how this group could help Romney sell himself to others, he answered, "Frankly, what I need you to do is to raise millions of dollars." He added, "The fact that I'm either tied or close to the president…that's very interesting."

To try to staunch the bleeding Romney took to the airwaves tonight to explain his hidden video clip in which he called nearly half of Americans "victims" by saying that his comments were "not elegantly stated" and was "spoken off the cuff." At the end of his brief news conference Mitt still decided to stick by his comments by saying that President Barack Obama's approach is "attractive to people who are not paying taxes."

For the record the poor do pay taxes in the form of payroll taxes, state and local sales taxes and if they're lucky enough they pay property taxes. In addition more than 10 percent of households pay no income tax because they're retired. We must also remember that there are quite a few millionaires, billionaires and yes even corporations worth mind boggling amounts that don't pay dime one in taxes... Mitt ought to know a little something about that.
