In Light Of Hurricane Sandy Please Remember Romney Said He Would Eliminating FEMA And Disaster Funding

When a disaster hit the United States of America the government jumps in to help out those who are directly effected by it. Forest fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and even things like oil spills.

…when you look at the enormity of the disaster that just occurred in the form of Hurricane Sandy  please remember that Mitt Romney suggested last year that he would eliminate the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA if he were elected President.

During the 2011 CNN Republican debates the topic turned to the role of the federal governments role if the previously mentioned disasters should occur. John King, who was the moderator asked Mitt Romney about disaster relief, following the tornado that struck Joplin, Mo., the month before.

Here was the exact question...

FEMA is about to run out of money, and there are some people who say do it on a case-by-case basis and some people who say, you know, maybe we're learning a lesson here that the states should take on more of this role, how do you deal with something like that?”

Here is Romney’s response…

“Absolutely. Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that's the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that's even better. Instead of thinking in the federal budget, what we should cut – we should ask ourselves the opposite question, what should we keep?"

In other words if Mitt Romney had his way cooperate entities would be the one making decisions on which disasters to send help to. I wonder if they would take into account if helpig ut would be cost effective?

Or perhaps he would have left a disaster like the BP oil spill to be cleaned up solely by the states that were affected by it. How would a disaster like that not bankrupt all the coastal states?

Either scenario is implausible and utterly ridiculous.

Here is the video of the exchange at the debate…

Romney Surrogate John Sununu Says Colin Powell Only Endorsed Obama Because He's Black

Human/pig hybrid and disgraced White House Chief of Staff John Sununu has reared his ugly head again on the cable news station circuit to expose more of his racist dog whistle talking points.

Sununu is who was famously chased from Washington amid scandal and disgrace during his time as the first George Bush Chief of staff is not new to bigoted comments. He has previously said of Barack Obama that “I wish this president would learn how to be an American.” and that the reason for the President's poor first debate performance was that: “He didn’t want to prepare for this debate. He’s lazy....”

After being harshly criticized for his comments it is apparent that Sununu hasn't learned his lesson or he just doesn't care. During an appearance on CNN's Peirs Morgan Tonight" Sununu was asked about Colin Powell's endorsement of President Obama for a second term.

Here was his answer…
Sununu: “Frankly, when you take a look at Colin Powell, you have to wonder if that’s an endorsement based on issues, or whether he’s got a slightly different reason for preferring President Obama,”
Morgan: “What reason would that be?”
Sununu: “Well, I think when you have somebody of your own race that you’re proud of being President of the United States, I applaud Colin for standing with him,”
Watch the video of the exchange here…
Understandably Sununu was raked over the coals for this and released an "apology" around midnight that read: "Colin Powell is a friend and I respect the endorsement decision he made and I do not doubt that it was based on anything but his support of the president’s policies. Piers Morgan’s question was whether Colin Powell should leave the party (NOT TRUE... Listen to the video again!), and I don’t think he should.”

Sununu can't even apologize without lying!!!

As of tonight neither Mitt Romney or his campaign has responded to his official surrogate's comments.

Here is an interesting fact in light of Sununu's "learn how to be an American" remark... John Sununu himself is not a 'natural born' American! Here are the details... Sununu was born in Havana, Cuba. He is the son of Victoria (née Dada) and John Saleh Sununu, an international film distributor of Rûm Palestinian descent who belonged to the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem. John Henry’s father was raised in the Ottoman Empire's Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem in Palestine. John Henry’s mother was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. Father John Saleh immigrated to Cuba as part of the mass exodus of Ottoman subjects seeking a better life abroad.

What makes this country so great is that it is comprised of such diverse races ethnicities religions creeds and colors. It's too bad that some people find this a point of division as opposed to why we are all so much alike.

Colin Powell Endorses Obama For President

Today Former Secretary of State and avowed Republican Colin Powell endorsed President Barack Obama for a second term.

In an interview on CBS This Morning Powell said: "You know, I voted for him in 2008 and I plan to stick with him in 2012, and I'll be voting for he and Vice President Joe Biden next month,". Powell added "I think we ought to keep on the track that we are on,"

When Powell was then asked point blank if it was an endorsement, he simply replied "Yes."

Later in the same interview Col. Powell said that although he respected the Presidents opponent Mitt Romney he believed that his foreign policy was a "moving target." Powell continued "One day he has a certain strong view about staying in Afghanistan, but then on Monday night he agrees with the withdrawal. Same thing in Iraq. On every issue that was discussed on Monday night, Gov. Romney agreed with the president with some nuances. But this is quite a different set of foreign policy views than he had earlier in the campaign."

Here is the interview...

President Barack Obama called Powell later in the day to thank him for the endorsement and went on to say it was that he "proud and humbled to learn that we have Colin Powell's support in this campaign" and that he was "grateful to him for his lifetime of service to his country both as a soldier and as a diplomat,".

Ann Coulter Calls Obama A 'Retard'... Yawn

Isn't Halloween the time when vile and hideous grotesqueries slither out of their venom soaked pits to scare small children and cause a feeling of unease among the general populace? Well someone tell Ann Coulter she's a week early!

I guess in order to hype a new book or something Coulter had made an incendiary remark on Twitter after the third and final presidential debate between Obama and Mitt Romney.

"I highly approve of Romney's decision to be kind and gentle to the retard," she tweeted.

Coulter doubled down on her hilarious comments by tweeting, "Obama: "Stage 3 Romneysia" - because cancer references are HILARIOUS. If he's "the smartest guy in the room" it must be one retarded room."

That dude just keeps coming with the funny doesn't he?

Sarah Palin Accuses Obama Of 'Shuck And Jive' On Benghazi Then Claims Ignoace Of The Terms Meaning

Once again Sarah Palin has reared her nauseating visage out from whatever lair she nests in to belch up a bit of contrived controversy in a failed attempt to try to stay relevant.

This time her brilliant plan was to spew a patently racist phrase at the President and then in a tried and true strategy of the right's claim victim hood when called out for being a bigot.

Palin's mode of delivery was once again her Facebook page. In a post, entitled "Obama's Shuck and Jive Ends With Benghazi Lies," Palin blathered on about recently released emails that disclose more details on the Benghazi, Libya, attack.

In a continuation of the Fox News trope about a cover up concerning the recent terrorist attacks in Benghazi Palin bemoans: "Why the lies? Why the cover up?" ... We deserve answers to this. President Obama's shuck and jive shtick with these Benghazi lies must end."

Here is the link to the post if you must...
Palin went on to defend her remarks by feigning ignorance and claimed she had used the words directed at her daughter when she didn't do her homework.

Not that Palin tried but here is what was found after a miniscule bit of research on the etymology of 'Shuck And Jive'...

“Shucking and jiving” have long been words used as a negative assessment of African Americans. According to a story in Newsday, “The 1994 book ‘Juba to Jive, a Dictionary of African-American Slang,’ says ‘shuck and jive’ dates back to the 1870s and was an ‘originally southern 'Negro' expression for clowning, lying, pretense.’"

Ignorance is no excuse but did any of us really believe Palin didn't know exactly what she was doing when she blew this dog whistle?

Donald Trump's Gigantic Announcement

Donald Trump has promised an earth shattering "October surprise" type of an announcement would be an election-altering “bombshell”.

Many thought it would be President Obama and First Lady Michele Obama divorce papers that Trump had been spouting off about lately but that was not to be the case.

Instead we were treated to another episode in the real estate mogul’s “From the Desk of Donald Trump” YouTube video series in which the orange clown insised that he would give $5 million to a charity of President Barack Obama's choosing if he provides Trump his college transcripts and passport records by Halloween.

Here are Trumps exact words...

If Barack Obama opens up and gives his college records and applicationsand if he gives his passport applications and records I will give to a charity of his choicea check, immediately, for $5 million dollars.”

A press release issued by Trump reiterates that pledge and says that the deadline for Obama to take up the offer is October 31st.

Here is the video if you must...

Meanwhile on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" President Barack Obama joked that the feud with Trump "goes all the way back to (our) childhood in KenyaWe had constant run-ins on the soccer field, You know, he wasn't very good and resented it."

In a final note on this absurdity the UK newspaper The Guardian contacted Donald Trump’s office and asked for him to release his college and passport records on Thursday.

Trump refused.

So, Who Won The Debate... 4 Words: "Fewer Horses And Bayonets"

The instant polls are in...
CBS News Poll: President Obama won 53% to 23% with a further 24% saying they thought it was a tie.
CNN Poll: President Obama won by 8% points among the debate watchers it polled, 48% to 40%
PPP Poll: President Obama won the 51/45 in swing states
My take on the debate is that it will not change anyone's vote at this point of the game. Despite the fact that President Obama won this round walking away I think we have reached full saturation of the voter pool. Any undecideds who are left will split 50/50 thus nullifying themselves.

The only defining moment of the debate that might have a significant  lasting effect was the now infamous "Fewer horses and bayonets" quip. This was when Mitt Romney was dressing down the President for allowing the size of the Navy fleet to fall under 300 ships. Obama was obviously ready for this line of attack and zinged Romney so bad I had to pause the debate and leave the room.

Watch the hellacious slam here...
If this lives on as some type of meme that successfully shows just how woefully ignorant Mitt Romney is about our military it could do some damage... But I doubt it will.

If you missed the debate and want to watch it in it's entierty you can do so here...
Oh yeah, there was one other thing that the debate gave us... This amazing picture of Ann and Willard...

Tagg Romney Said He Wanted To "Take A Swing" At President Obama After The Debate

During an interview with North Carolina radio host Bill LuMaye Mitt Romney's 42 year old boy Tagg weighed in on the second presidential debate. He claimed that he was so mad after the the event that he wanted to "take a swing" at President Obama.

Tagg Romney said that after hearing the president call his father a liar (which Obama never did) he wanted to "jump out of [his] seat and ... rush down to the debate stage and take a swing at him."

Tough guy Tagg went on to say "But you know you can't do that because, well first because there's a lot of Secret Service between you and him… "

If I may be so bold I would like to suggest that little Taggart did not restrain himself on account that there was secret service at the debate. I believe the more likely reason he restrained himself is that he would have most assuredly taken a Commander in Chief size ass-whipping from the President.

Oh little Tagg… there is in fact one more debate… I beg of you to "take a swing".
Obama will drop you like a bad habit son.

Obama Rebounds, Wins 2nd Presidential Debate

There are many a Democrat breathing a sigh of relief tonight.

This one was as easy to call as the first. Romney plainly won the first debate and Obama without a doubt won the second one.

Here is the post debate polling...
  • The CNN/ORC International poll 46% of those surveyed said Obama won the debate, compared with 39 percent for Romney. In addition the poll found that 73% said Obama’s performance exceeded expectations, compared with 37% who said Romney did better than expected.
  • The CBS instant poll showed Obama wining with 37% to Romney's 30%, with 33% undecided. The same poll showed a similar win for Biden last week.
  • The Public Policy Polling survey of Colorado voters showed the President is also the winner by a 48%-44% margin with even better news in the internals.
There were several points in the debate that stood out for me that led me to believe Barack Obama had taken the night.

One was the Libya exchange. Romney's head was handed to him when he simultaneously declared that President Obama said that he called the attack on Benghazi's consulate a terrorist attack one day after it occurred but also waited 14 days to admit it was a terrorist attack.

A second high point for the President came in the same back and forth between the two when President Obama called Mitt Romney's accusation that there was a cover up over the Benghazi attack "offensive". It made Obama look dignified, strong and Presidential while simultaneously making Romney look petty and opportunistic.

Watch both examples in this one exchange...

The third and perhaps biggest point was the night and day performance of Barack Obama from this debate as compared to the last one. In the first debate Obama seemed to sleepwalk through the entire event. Tonight the President found his mojo and did what he forgot to do in the previous performance... make us believe he wants this job.

Other points that will be most assuredly be discussed further and at length are: "sketchy deal", "The Lilly Ledbetter Act", "please proceed Governor", "binders full of women", Romney's "connecting gun violence with single parents" plus his "reversal on women's contraception" and Obama's "47%" closing statement.

I think this memeified debate photo sums the outcome up nicely...

So What Exactly Is The Proper Attire For A Mitt Romney Rally?

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me Romney/Ryan supporter at a rally in Ohio....
In case you think this racist man and his repulsive shirt might in fact be an isolated incident here are a coupla' tweets to prove that he isn't...
Via Despicable Tweets.
It brings to my mind the saying... "Not every Republican is a racist but every racist is a Republican"

Biden Edges Ryan In Contentious VP Debate

After the dust settled it was clear that Joe Biden won tonight's debate.

My take is that Ryan came with talking points but Biden came with the facts and more importantly the fight. Biden's command of the facts/truth and an exasperated smile used as a device to point out every time he thought Ryan was lying lead to his win.

Here are a few of those well placed exasperated smiles Biden used...
The fact that Joe Biden won can mean only on thing. All Republicans, who for the last week have been gloating to the point of nausea, must take decisive action to blunt and undermine the win.

Fox News went on red alert and called Joe Biden 'Rude,' 'Unhinged,' and a 'Cranky Old Man' (They should know their network is littered with those people).

It didn't stop there. The Romney Ryan team leaped into action to paint Biden and his victory in as bad a light as possible...

Senator Rand Paul called Biden “Arrogant Cheshire Cat with a big smile,”

Ryan advisor Dan Senor said “It was bizarre,”

RNC Deputy Communications Director Tim Miller tweeted that "Biden bordering on unhinged"

Romney advisor Eric Fehrnstrom tweeted "Biden: smirking, mocking, immature."

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus took to Twitter to say: "Joe being Joe didn’t work so well. Twitter frowns on Joe Biden's laugh

All this while everyone else was proclaiming Biden as the clear cut winner of the debate.

The Obama team responded to the smile shaming by saying: "So the Romney/Ryan spin is... Biden was too energetic? Weak."

Here is the full debate. Watch it and you be the judge...
According to an instant poll taken by CBS News of uncommitted voters 50% saw Joe Biden as the winner, 31% thought Ryan the winner, and 19% said they felt it was a tie.

In today's Reuters/Ipsos poll, which asked who did a better job in the vice-president debate, the response was: Joe Biden 41.3% -  Paul Ryan 35.3% and Don’t know cleared 23.4%.

Now the the task at hand is how they are going to infuse President Obama with Biden's rude, unhinged, cranky and (most importantly) winning style.

Did Romney Use A Cheat Sheet For The Debate... Hell Yeah He Did!!!!

Oh damn... Romney cheated!!!!! He used a used a "cheat sheet" in the debate against Obama. Candidates are expressly forbidden from bringing any notes onstage and the sneaky little bastard did just that.

Check out the video, it's plain as day and you can tell he had been practicing the move...
For an even more extensive video proof check out the video they have posted at the website The Daily Beast...

Hey! Mr. President Wake Up… You're In A Debate And Your Opponent Is Lying His Ass Off!

The first debate is over and the results are in * spoiler alert * Mitt Romney won. To hear the cable news talking heads version of the night it was a complete and utter route. A destruction. A devastating knockout. If a newspaper printed a headline after only listening to their critiques it would read something along the lines of "Rabidly Peppy Mitt Romney Devours A Petulant Semi-Comatose Barack Obama".

While it wasn't a good night at all for the President I personally didn't see it as the complete wipe out that the punditry did. While it was obvious that Romney had brought his A game it was clearly evident that Barack Obama was off his majorly.

It went somewhat along the lines of mitt Romney spewed a torrent of unabashed lies with amazing clarity and zingy precision while Obama stuck to the facts in a low key, boring and professorial manner.

That being said the reviews by the chattering class were deadly. Here are a few by those who would be considered cheerleaders for the President...
Chris Matthews said “Where was Obama tonight?! I don't know what he was doing out there…. I know he likes to say he doesn't watch cable television but maybe he should start. Maybe he should start. I don't know how he let Romney get away with the crap he threw at him tonight…"
Ed Schultz raged “I was absolutely stunned tonight,”
David Gergen offered, "I don't think anyone's ever spoken to him like that over the last four years. I think he found that not only surprising but offensive in some ways... it looked like he was angry at times."
Ezra Klein vented “If the Obama campaign was worried about Dems being overconfident going into the final stretch, tonight should allay those fears,”
Bill Maher tweeted "I can’t believe I’m saying this, But Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter.”
Whoopi Goldberg summed up the night by tweeting "Good Lord I need a joint oh my god I want to go down the path to an answer!!"
While Obama allies lamented his performance Fox News gloated over the win and then gloated again over the fact that Obama supporters recognized that he lost. They printed all the above quotes and more and rolled around in it them like a fat sweaty stripper in a jello pit full of dirty singles.

Rahther than link to a clip of the whole debate here is a condensed version of it from our friends over BuzzFeed. It's called "The Whole Presidential Debate In 121 Seconds". It's basically everything you need to know without having to sit through the whole 90 minutes…

After watching that take into account that it's not that it was edited out but rather that Barack Obama (stunningly) never once mentioned any of these topics: Bain Capital, 47% gaffe, the Personhood amendment, Mitt's "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" editorial, women's reproductive rights, tax shelters, self deportation, defunding Planned Parenthood, union busting, Arizona's papers please law, privatizing Social Security, a woman's right to choose, ect, ect, ect…. (Did I leave anything out?)

It boggles the mind.

Many of Obama's fans have expressed the hope that the President was playing rope-a-dope in order to set up a situation where Mitt Romney would tell the same lies in the next debate so he could deliver a knockout blow using Mitts own words as the cudgel.

In stark and maddening contrast here is the stump speech Barack Obama was giving today (where the hell was this guy last night!?!)…
In addition to hoping that the President comes correct in the next debate let's also hope that he unleashes Joe Biden to go bat-shit crazy all over Paul Ryan in their debate on Thursday. That one suddenly has become a must win for team Obama.

Republicans Drop Obama October Surprise Video Before Debate

This video of then candidate Barack Obama taken 5 years ago aired on the Sean Hannity show tonight and was billed as a "Bombshell". Tucker Carlson, who claimed he had unearthed tape, said the clip was an "exclusive" even though the five year old Hampton University speech has been online the whole time. This is on top of the fact that the event was covered by Fox News, CNN and by Tucker Carlson on his MSNBC show when it happened in 2007!

Either way Sean and Tucker got themselves all lathered up and indignant proclaiming that this was a game changer and heralded the footage as if it were going to bring down Barack Obama's entire presidency.

Carlson proceeded to call this video a "racially charged speech [that] undermines Obama's carefully-crafted image." and “This is not a dog whistle, this is a dog siren!”

Hannity hailed the speech as “a glimpse into the mind of the real Barack Obama,” and a “bombshell” that includes “some of the most divisive class warfare and racially charged rhetoric ever used by Barack Obama.”

After hyping this thing within an inch of it's life I was shocked that this is all there is....

Barack Obama speaks at Hampton University...
Obama Praising His Pastor Jeremiah Wright...
How this is even slightly controversial is beyond me. As far as the Rev. Wright shout out I'm here to tell all the Republicans who are wetting themselves with glee over this video that we got over that 4 plus years ago.

The only thing I see this video doing is confusing conservatives. When they hear about Barack Obama's pastor Rev. Wright they'll wonder why they wasted 4 years trying to convince themselves that he was a Muslim if they're just going to to have to chuck that all out the window to swallow this load of garbage.
