Jim Carrey's "Cold Dead Hand"

OK, Let's start with this. Last week comedian Jim Carrey made a scathing satirical video named "Cold Dead Hand" as his response to the killing of 20 innocent 5 and 6 year old children in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. In response to Carrey's video the NRA, Fox News and all gun nuts around America have shit their collective pants. The pant shitting was due to the fact that 1) the video garnered 1.8 million views in it's first 3 days and 2) it was deadly accurate in it's lambasting of gun owners and their gun culture.

Let's have a look at the video causing all the fuss…
Click the image to play the video
In my opinion the song is brilliant, the premise is hilarious and the message is deadly accurate. The spoofing of the TV show "Hee Haw" and actor Charlton Heston is inspired. "Hee Haw" was middle America's dumbed down answer to the much hipper "Laugh In" making the show a parody from the get go. Charlton Heston, while in his heyday was a figure that commanded respect, later on in his life became a caricature of that figure for becoming a tool of the NRA. Heston was also ridiculed for his jingoistic and imbecilic catchphrase "I'll give you my gun when you pry (or take) it from my cold, dead hands". Heston is as legitimate a target to lampoon as any dearly departed liberal icon we could dig up.

In the opinion of the NRA, Fox News and gun nuts this is the most heinous video to ever make it's way to the internet. Instead of embracing the satirical brilliance of the clip they seem to take everything in it literally. They especially hate the tiny penis reference in the song. I wonder why? They also hate the fact that Carry uses Republican icon Charlton Heston as a vehicle to carry out his anti gun message.

Some of the most vicious attacks have emanated from an unknown Fox News pundit named Greg Gutfeld. Gutfeld is one of the five hosts on the cleverly named show "The Five" and used his time on the show attacking and insulting Carrey. Here are some of the nasty, infantile insults Gutfeld hurled at Carrey: "He is probably the most pathetic tool on the face of the earth and I hope his career is dead and I hope he ends up sleeping in a car. [...] This video made me want to go out and buy a gun. He thinks this is biting satire going after rural America and a dead man... He's a dirty, stinking coward... He's such a pathetic, sad, little freak. He's a gibbering mess. He's a modern bigot." Sounds like someone's off their meds.

The over the top hyperbolic attack is an obvious and pathetic ploy to get Jim Carrey to attack Gutfeld thus bringing attention to himself and his show. Talk about punching down... Way down.

Carry has instead responded to the attacks on Twitter saying: "I'd like to respond to all the conservative bundits out there personally but I'm far too busy NOT stumping for the gun companies,". He also tweeted that the success of "Cold Dead Hand" was "forcing intolerent goons everywhere to show their hideous face."

Carrey's also issued a full statement blasting Fox News:
Since I released my "Cold Dead Hand" video on Funny or Die this week, I have watched Fux News rant, rave, bare its fangs and viciously slander me because of my stand against large magazines and assault rifles. I would take them to task legally if I felt they were worth my time or that anyone with a brain in their head could actually fall for such irresponsible buffoonery. That would gain them far too much attention which is all they really care about.
I'll just say this: in my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue.

I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure.

I wish them all the luck that accompanies such malevolence.
Thank you Jim Carrey for your "Cold Dead Hand"!
This one is for you Fox News!

Dying Iraq War Veteran Writes Letter To Bush And Cheney On War's 10th Anniversary

Days after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, Tomas Young, then a 22-year-old from Kansas City, Mo. decided he was going to enlist in the military in hopes of getting even with the enemies who had helped to carry out the deadly tragedy committed on that day.

Tomas Young never got to serve in Afghanistan but was instead sent to George Bush and Dick Cheney's war of choice in Iraq. Just five days into his first tour, Young's convoy was attacked by insurgents and a bullet from an AK-47 severed his spine. Young never walked again. Over the next nearly nine years Young suffered a number of medical setbacks surviving only with the help of extensive medical procedures and the care of his wife, Claudia.

The incident turned Young into one of the most vocal veteran critics of the Iraq War. He has, however, saved his most powerful criticism for what he claims will be his last. Young says he'll die soon, but not before writing a letter to Bush and former Vice President Cheney on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq War.

Here is an excerpt from Young's letter…
I write this letter, my last letter, to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. I write not because I think you grasp the terrible human and moral consequences of your lies, manipulation and thirst for wealth and power. I write this letter because, before my own death, I want to make it clear that I, and hundreds of thousands of my fellow veterans, along with millions of my fellow citizens, along with hundreds of millions more in Iraq and the Middle East, know fully who you are and what you have done. You may evade justice but in our eyes you are each guilty of egregious war crimes, of plunder and, finally, of murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americansmy fellow veteranswhose future you stole.
Young goes on to attack the "cowardice" of Bush and Cheney for avoiding military service themselves, and to encourage them to "stand before the American public and the world, and in particular the Iraqi people, and beg for forgiveness."

Young was the subject of the 2007 documentary "Body of War" which was about his recovery process and the Iraq War. At a February screening of the film, Young told the audience that he planned to end his life in April. He announced that he would stop taking all nourishment and life-extending medications at that time. He's since said that the deterioration to his body from the injury and ensuing complications would make it physically impossible for him to commit suicide in any other way.

While seated beside his wife he told the audience "It's time"

Donald Trump Delivered His CPAC Speech To An Empty Ballroom

I'd like to start off this post by saying that karma is a wonderful thing. With that being said let the schadenfreude begin...

Donald Trump gave his highly anticipated speech (if you listen to Fox News and Donald Trump) in front of an empty ballroom.

Here is Trump's tweet saying that he expected a "Really big crowd..."
Being the very important person he is "The Donald" was given the highly coveted 8:45am speaking slot on the very first day of the conference. I'm guessing this is where they put the hugely popular speakers.

When asked Al Cardenas, the head of the American Conservative Union, said "Mr. Trump’s previous CPAC appearance was hugely popular among our attendees and we expect it will be even more popular this year".

Part one - fantasy sequence ends...

Part two - Reality set in...

Here are photos of the VIP section and other various areas in the room.
Those who were there said the speech received a smattering of applause and, some chuckling. Apparently the biggest applause came when Trump suggested, once again, that we go back to Iraq for oil: "I say we should take it and pay ourselves back".

In addition to the fact that the room was vacant the website Business Insider is saying that "all anyone is talking about now is how confusing and terrible it was".

In a final footnote on the Trump speech not even C-Span covered it… 'Nuff Said.

If you feel so inclined here is Trump's speech in it's entirety...

Pat Boone Croons That Obama Is A "Marxist" Who Wants A "socialist nation in which nobody gets rich"

Crazy old man Pat Boone appeared on Fox Business News' Neil Cavuto Show on Wednesday and claimed that President Barack Obama is a "marxist" and a "socialist" who wants to create a "virtually socialist nation in which people don't get very rich... The government is in charge of everything."

Much to the chagrin of Cavuto (who did try to stop him) Boone went on to claim that Obama "is following his playbook, which is Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals,". Boone continued with "This is the guy that trained him to be a community organizer, a Marxist, a socialist, a progressive, who wrote the rules for doing what Mr. Obama is doing."

Boone went on to scale even higher peaks on mount crazy when he proceeded to tell Cavuto; “I am a target. I was on his enemy’s list in the first year of his presidency,” he said… referring to a "leak" of the president’s "secret enemies list" released by the ever-trustworthy tabloid The Globe.

This is not the first time ol' Boonie has dipped his toe into the anti-obama hate pool. Pat has in the past gone complete "Birther" when he, In a column published at World Net Daily, suggested that Obama was born in Kenya and was a practicing Muslim.

Boone joins a long list of "performers" who have come out against the President including Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr., Meat Loaf and Ted Nugent  and actors including Clint Eastwood, R. Lee Ermey, Jon Voight, Stacey Dash and Brad Pitt's Mom joining in the fight as well.

You can watch the old man craziness below…
Just for fun here is a picture of Pat Boone, a devout born again christian, exposing his junk for the glory of his lord and savior... He's silly like that.

Good News: Religion Among Americans Hits All Time Low

Here is a bit of news that will lift the spirits (pun intended) of any godless liberal... The number of Americans who claim to have no religious affiliation is the highest it has ever been since data on the subject started being collected in the 1930s.

Sociologists from the University of California, Berkeley, and Duke University analyzed results from the General Social Survey and found that the number of people who do not consider themselves part of an organized religion has spiked in recent years.

Back in the 1930s and 1940s those who said they were religiously unaffiliated hovered around 5%. That number had risen to only 8% by 1990. Since then, the number of people who don't consider themselves part of a religion has increased to 20 %.

The research also found that men were more likely than women to claim they have no religion -- 24% compared to 16 % -- and that African Americans and Mexican Americans were more likely to associate themselves with a religion than whites.

The most telling numbers pertained to the breakdown of the respondents' politics: 40% of liberals claim they have no religion, compared to just 9% of conservatives.

The sociologists analyzed similar data 10 years ago and theorized that the shift away from organized religion is directly tied to politics.

They say they believe this is "a product of the involvement of the religious right in American politics and the increasing connection in Americans' minds, the minds of moderates and liberals, that religion equals conservative politics equals religionIncreasingly, people identify and link organized religion with anti-gay attitudes, sexual conservatism, a whole range of those kinds of social cultural values. One way you can think about it is, this is blowback."

The results mirror a similar study done by the Pew Research Center released in October that noted that a third of U.S. adults under the age of 30 don't identify with a religion.

In addition to finding that many Americans don't associate with a specific faith, Pew discovered that many aren't looking for one either.

The report found that, "Overwhelmingly, they think that religious organizations are too concerned with money and power, too focused on rules and too involved in politics."

Personally I believe this will continue to happen in waves. As generations raised and indoctrinated on and by various religions die off I think (hope) that religious affiliations as well as racism and homophobic beliefs will dwindle. As information and education is more readily available through outlets like the internet myth, religious and fear based learning will eventually be replaced by intelligent and reasoned thought.

Paul Ryan's Freudian Slip About Republicans "destroying the health care system" Might Be The First Truthful Thing He's Said About His Budget Plan

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) dropped the mother of all Freudian slips today.

The slip up happened while Ryan was speaking at a news conference to unveil his latest budget plan.  At a key moment when he was promising, once again, that Republicans would continue to push to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) Ryan let this little gem slip out…

We believe that this law is going to collapse under its own weightThis to us is something that we’re not going to give up on, because we’re not going to give up on destroying the health care system for the American people” .

Gun Enthusiasts Declare Obama Is Raising a Private Black Army To Wipe Out White Americans... It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This Folks!

Please forgive my lack of concern on this one but this has to be one of my favorite conspiracy theories of all time! The level of crazy is so off the chart I don't even know if I can get upset about it. It's so hard to be angry when you're laughing hysterically.

Alright I have composed myself and here it is…

Allow me to introduce the players in this production. From left to right we have Larry Pratt, Stan Solomon and Greg W. Howard.
The lunacy all starts off with Gun Owners of America president Larry Pratt appearing on Stan Solomon's Talk to Solomon Show, with another nut-job conservative blogger named Greg W. Howard. It is at this point were they all start to spew this beautiful bat shit insane Obama conspiracy theory.

Pratt begins by predicting that President Obama will begin confiscating guns in order to provoke a "violent confrontation" with "hotheaded militia guys" to justify further oppression.

The host of the show Stan Solomon then said he feared this would lead to the "hurt, kill, imprison" of hundreds of thousands of Americans.

Pratt hen insists that Obama is acting like King George, a sentiment with which Solomon concurred, saying, “That will happen quickly and they will wipe those people out to set an example.”

Then it happens… The craziest conspiracy theory ever! Behold...

Solomon exclaims “I believe they will put together a racial force to go against a (sic) opposite race resistance, basically a black force to go against a white resistance, and then they will claim anyone resisting the black force they are doing it because they are racist not because they believe it's constitutional to have guns

Holy shit!!!! Can you stand it? It doesn't stop there either.

Howard then chimes in “You may be right because he has been sowing the seeds of racial hatredwe were healing quite well as a nation on racial issues until Obama came along and now we have a lot of racial discord

How can anyone even take offense at this lunacy. It's so over the top! At best all you can do is feel sorry for these guys and hope they seek psychiatric help as soon as possible.

The madness continued unabated…

After arguing that Obama is “not American” and "he does not understand Americans", Howard maintained that Obama may begin “wiping out a few hundred people who own guns, like maybe pull a large scale Waco or a Ruby Ridge type incident" and have it “tinged it with racial overtones” it will backfire because people will reveal his plot through the internet. He then goes on to say that Obama would most likely take down the internet but that it wouldn't matter because “people are setting up phone-trees all over the place” to stop Obama in his tracks.

Umm... a phone-tree you say?

Howard then finishes up with this gem: “If Obama can take your guns away he can take your car, he can take your home, he can take your bank account, he can take your very life”.

As though they are trapped in their own crazy bubble, Pratt continues to wallow in their insane group ramble and then fire off this parting shot: “I do agree that the Obama administration would definitely be capable of something as evil as you were suggesting…. a lot of people resolved, ‘no more free Wacos,’” and that if Obama “starts playing the massacre game the way you (Obama?) did at Waco, well, you’re going to get surrounded, you won’t be able to go home safely, your family won’t be safe.”

WOW… Just fucking wow. Watch the pure uncut crazy here... It's the good stuff!

Yikes! Pat Robertson Says Look Out... There's A Ghost In Your Sweater!!!!

On the 700 Club, super-televangelist Pat Robertson said that demons can attach themselves to material goods and therefore it’s not a bad idea to rebuke them before bringing them into your home.

It starts when Pat's co-host read a letter from a viewer named Carrie who asked whether she should heed her mom’s recommendation of praying away demonic spirits that may be inhabiting sweaters that she had bought at a secondhand store. Robertson set the worried girl strait by recounted a story about “a witch who had prayed over a particular ring and asked for a spirit to come into it, and this Philippine girl was so attached to this ring, she had to buy it and all hell broke loose because she finally recognized what it was. So can demonic spirits attach themselves to inanimate objects, the answer is yes

Filipinos! Rings! Witches! Spirits! Demons! Hell Breaking Loose! Zoinks Scoob it sure is scary being a Christian!

Luckily Robertson went on to allay some of the Christian's fears by saying that people don’t have to worry that every item they purchase is possessed by demons, but: “Hey, it ain’t going to hurt anything to rebuke any spirits that happened to have attached themselves to those clothes.”

Watch the spooky clip here...
Wow! After hearing this I'm going to have to bring an exorcist to accompany me on my next laundry day!
