|Racist, homophobe and dullard Jim Coughlan|
In the ad Perry says that...
“We have never invested as much in public education as we should have because we've always had kind of a private notion of children: ‘Your kid is yours, and totally your responsibility. We have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities.”
Sounds innocent enough but for some reason this set Mr. Coughlan off to the point where he felt he had to send out this incredibly racist statement via Twitter:
"Keep your stinking paws off my kid, you damned dirty ape."
Here is a screen grab of the tweet:
According to the report in The Daily News Coughlan denies knowing that Harris-Perry is African American and instead was simply quoting the famous line from the original "Planet of the Apes".
I, of course, don't need to explain to you the long history of ignorant racists referring to people of color as "apes" as Mr. Coughlan did in his tweet. If this unfortunate fact is lost on him it is ether because he is either A) an imbecile or B) a liar. I am going with option C)... he is both.
Another problem for Mr. Coughlan is that his bigoted behavior is apparently not a surprise to anyone who knows him.
After Democrats were done voicing their outrage over Coughlan's tweet fellow Republicans distanced themselves from him as well. One went on the record and told the Daily News:
"Jim Coughlan is toxic. The Democrats are dying to run against him in November because they know he's the best chance they have of keeping this seat in Democratic hands."
Just to drive home the point that Mr Jim Coughlan is a piece of garbage here are a few other choice tweets and re-tweets of his...
Toxic about sums it up.
