Rick Perry Says Homosexuality Is The Same As Alcoholism

Hey, is Rick Perry flirting with me?
During a visit to the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco, Gov. Rick Perry decided it was about time he explained his views on homosexuality by comparing it to the brutal life destroying addiction of alcoholism.

When Perry, a former and potential future GOP presidential candidate, was then asked whether he believed homosexuality was a disorder he explained matter-of-factly...

"Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that. I may have the genetic coding that I'm inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way."

Here is the clip of Perry comparing homosexuality to alcoholism...

Personally I believe Rick is confusing alcohol addiction that usually leads to ruined relationships, decimated families and destroyed lives with healthy same sex lifestyle choices that may lead to loving fulfilling and lasting relationships that bring joy and happiness. A common mistake.

In addition I would like to point out that many people who aren't alcoholics often indulge in social drinking from time to time with no social stigma or detrimental effects attached to it. I wonder since Perry believes drinking and homosexuality are interchangeable if he himself takes a few nips off the proverbial same sex bottle every now and then? You know just to relax after a long hard day. I say this because he seems to have really done some in depth research on the subject.

Here we see Perry doing some research.
Perry's comments come on the heels of the Texas' Republican Convention on Saturday that sanctioned platform language advocating the falsehood that someone can "cure" someone else of being gay otherwise known as "Gay Conversion Therapy"
