Bachmann Says The "Rapture" Is Imminent Thanks To President Obama!

This image has nothing to do with the story but it does represent my vision of the "End Times"
In an interview last week, on a radio series actually named "End Times", former Minnesota Republican congresswoman Michele Bachmann told the shows broadcaster Jan Markell that the rapture is coming... and it's all thanks to President Barack Obama! As it turns out the President's policies on Iran’s nuclear program, marriage equality and abortion is hastening the "rapture" which some Christians believe that those who are "saved" will be transported to heaven just before armageddon.

But don't fret! Bachmann says that people should “not despair but rejoice” that the world has reached the “midnight hour” saying...

We in our lifetimes potentially could see Jesus Christ returning to earth and the Rapture of the church... We see the destruction, but this was a destruction that was foretold.”

Later in the interview, Bachmann again tied her rapture prediction to Obama’s foreign policy when she cited the administration’s nuclear negotiations with five partner nations in which they are discussing a deal that would prevent Iran from developing or obtaining nuclear weapons.

We are literally watching, month by month, the speed move up to a level we’ve never seen before with these events. Barack Obama is intent. It is his number one goal to ensure that Iran has a nuclear weapon (if by that you mean the exact opposite). If you look at the president’s rhetoric, and if you look at his actions, everything he has done has been to cut the legs out of Israel and lift up the agenda of radical Islam,”

Bachmann then went on to blame abortion and gay marriage, arguing that God is punishing the United States for “embracing a pagan view”...

Any nation that accepts God and his principles is blessed, and those who push away are cursed. That’s what we’re seeing happen to the United States. We will suffer the consequences as a result.”

Markell quickly chimed in agreeing with Bachmann saying that both legal abortion and marriage equality for gays and lesbians is bringing about divine punishment on America. Bachmann responded, lamenting...

You are right,” and that God will soon lift His “hedge of protection” over “pagan” America “and we will suffer the consequences as a result.”
That’s why so many Christians I think are sad and despairing because we know what the word of God says but it is also a chastening as individual believers for our good and that, to me, is extremely exciting.”

Here is the audio clip Bachmann explaining her religious fever dream...

Fox News "Experts" Explain Why Atheists Are Morally Incapable Of Holding Elected Office

Yesterday Fox And Friends Sunday edition ensconced a panel of "experts" to discuss whether an Atheist was morally capable of holding the office of the President of the United States. It involved a back and forth between Fox News' resident douchebag Tucker Carlson, Catholic priest Father Jonathan Morris, weekend host and man with three names that are euphemisms for a penis Peter Johnson Jr. and a blond lady.

The discussion which started out as a question about faith in politics quickly devolved into what they were really there to do... Bash Atheists. After the false set up the team eventually got to their main focus which was that atheists were not suitable candidates for any office with their hard to argue logic that those types of people would be “hard to trust” because they don't believe God will punish them by sending them to hell for eternity if they do something naughty.

Father Jonathan Morris started the rap session after Fox ran several clips of Republican presidential candidates sermonizing yesterday at something named "The Faith And Freedom Coalition". He started by positing ...

One thing is very certain is you can’t fake religion, Politicians sometimes fall into that, I think. What matters most to us Americans — those who will be voting — is what these guys said before they were running for president, the way in which they lived before they started running for president and I think they need to be very clear about the values they believe in, not making stuff up in order to get votes. And then people will say, ‘Even if I disagree with some of his beliefs, I like the fact that I can trust him to be who he says he is.'

Douchebag Tucker Carlson then asked the diminutive priest...

"So how should faith inform a public officials life"

Father Morris answered with this completely nonsensical retort...

Well, if it doesn't inform your life then it's not faith because faith is a set of beliefs. It’s a belief in God, it’s a belief that there are eternal consequences for your actions. And I think that a leader that doesn’t have that — a set of core beliefs that help him to make justice an important part of his life and his decisions because he knows that there are eternal consequences, well, it’s somebody that it’s hard to trust.”

Peter Johnson Jr. then lobbed a softball to the Priest by wondering aloud if voters should “judge” people based on their faith exclaiming...

Should voters judge the faith of people running for President? For example, if someone running for president is an atheist... Are they qualified to be the president.”

Padre Morris replied by saying no and then ultimately saying yes all in one sentence...

You know, I would say faith is not the most important thing, but wisdom...But yes, it certainly makes a difference who that person is.”

Tucker Carlson heartily agreed adding...

That’s for sure,"

Mike Huckabee Says: "Wait To Join Military Until Obama Leaves Office"... Because The Gay!

Stop kids! Don't serve in our country's military... IT'S TOO GAY!
Last week the former Arkansas Governor, Fox News huckster and Presidential wannabe Mike Huckabee claimed in an interview with Iowa talk radio host Jan Mickelson that the Obama administration has “an open hostility toward the Christian faith,” and urged prospective military recruits to wait until the end of President Obama’s term to enlist.

Why you ask would anyone make such an inane statement. Well I'll let the ex-Govenor hetero-splain it to you.

You see when radio host Mickelson asked Huckabee about a recent Washington Times story that made mention of right-wing legal groups that claimed that Christians are being discouraged from joining the military because of a “hostile work environment.” Huckabee readily agreed, calling the alleged persecution of Christians in the militaryone of the great tragedies of our time.”

Huckabee then went on to spout this nonsensical and factually inaccurate screed...

This administration has had an open hostility toward the Christian faith. I know that sounds like a bold statement, Jan, but when you have a president whose administration orders its chaplains to put its Bibles away, not to pray in Jesus name, not to counsel people on the issues of sexual morality; when you have this attitude that is more about promoting gay marriage and gay rights in the military than it is about being able to protect religious liberty for those people of faith, it’s going to be hard to find people that are truly devoted people of faith and Christian believers and Orthodox Jews and others. Why would they want to be in a military that would be openly hostile and not just simply bring some scorn to their faith, but would punish them for it?

In light of Huckabee's bold faced lie Mickelson just had to ask what the Govenor would tell the poor parents whose children were considering joining the armed forces. Mike replied with this sage tidbit of wisdom...

I’d wait a couple of years until we get a new commander-in-chief that will once again believe ‘one nation under god’ and believe that people of faith should be a vital part of the process of not only governing this country, but defending this country.”

Here is the clip in all it's unhinged glory if you must...

Jon Stewart Destroys Dick Cheney's Lies In Epic Daily Show Takedown

The Daily Show: Jon Stewart with Vice President Dick Cheney
Last week on The Hugh Hewitt Show Vice President Dick Cheney made what can only be described as the most disingenuous statement in the history of humankind when he attacked President Barack Obama's nuclear deal with Iran by saying "I can't think of a more terrible burden to leave the next president than what Obama is creating here."

The audacity and hubris displayed by the statement was altogether stunning, maddening and laughable.

On Thursday night's "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart shot back in a piece that utterly and completely crushed Cheney and his bogus claim.

Stewart started off the bit by positing a question to Cheney, who was represented by a simple red balloon with a frowny face drawn on it "Really? You can't think of an administration that left a more terrible burden?" He then proceeded to use Cheney's own logic to show that there was indeed a presidential administration that helped strengthen Iran more than any other... his own.

Here is the brilliant takedown entitled...

Tennessee House Approves Bill To Make Bible Official State Book *UPDATE

Last week Tennessee state legislators advanced a bill to make the Bible the official state book.

The Republican-controlled state House of Representatives voted 55-38 to approve the measure. A companion bill is already being  considered in the state Senate, where Republicans hold 28 seats to five for Democrats.

Even though the bill has drawn criticism because it violates the separation of church and state under the U.S. Constitution and Tennessee's constitution representative Bud Hulsey, a Republican, told colleagues in support of the bill it is worth the fight "now more than ever."

In other Tennessee government Republican house members has also approved bills that declare God as the state's bird and Jesus as the state's tree.

Okay, I made that last bit up.

*UPDATE: The plan to make the Bible the official state book in Tennessee was derailed today when the Republican-controlled Senate sening the measure back to a committee. This move effectively kills the bill for this year.

Hallelujah... It's a miracle!

Employers Added 126,000 Jobs In February And The Unemployment Rate Stays At 5.5 Percent

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics U.S. employers added 126,000 US jobs in March. Some think this may heighten concerns over the recent slowdown in economic growth and delay an anticipated interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve which is welcome news to the US stock market

Analysts blamed the plunge in oil prices as well as the difficult winter across the Northeast and Midwest, a combination that put a crimp on spending in the energy patch and held back consumer spending and construction.

This is how the report breaks down...

  • Nonfarm payrolls rose 126,000 last month the Labor Department said last Friday.

  • The goods producing sector, which had been hurt by a strong dollar and lower crude oil prices, shed 13,000 jobs in March.

  • The unemployment rate held at a more than 6-1/2-year low of 5.5 percent which is what economists polled forcasted.

  • Hourly wages, one of the bright spots in the report, rose 0.3 percent for private sector workers in March

  • Prices for U.S. government debt rose as investors further pushed back their expectations for a Fed rate hike this year.

  • The U.S. dollar did however fall  against a basket of currencies and U.S. stock index futures slipped.

  • The U.S. central bank has appeared keen to raise its key overnight lending rate, which it has kept near zero since December 2008.

  • The economy's recent numbers has led investors to push back bets on the rate lift-off. Some believe the Fed could even wait until 2016.

  • March's middling increase in payrolls ended 12 straight months of job gains above 200,000, which had been the longest streak since 1994.

  • Gross domestic product estimates for the first quarter are as low as a 0.6 percent annual pace, but the slowdown is expected to be temporary.

  • Labor force participation rate, or the share of working-age Americans who are employed or at least looking for a job, slipped one-tenth of a percentage point to 62.7 percent last month, other measures on the Fed's so-called dashboard continued to improve.

  • People who want to work but have given up searching and those working part-time because they cannot find full-time employment fell to a more than 6-1/2-year low of 10.9 percent from 11 percent in February.

  • The number of Americans unemployed for 27 weeks or longer also declined further.

  • The average work week fell to 34.5 hours last month from 34.6 in February.

  • Housing prices have also continued their slow but steady recovery.

Here are some of the views of economic annalists about the jobs numbers...

Alan Ruskin, global head of G10 FX strategy at Deutsche Bank in New York says...

"It is very likely that weather has been part of the story, but the latest numbers bring payrolls more in line with other data that signals some underlying slowing,"

Thomas E. Perez, the secretary of labor says...

It was lower than expectations, without a doubt,” said  “But I’ve always said that one month never makes a trend,”

Jim Baird, chief investment officer at Plante Moran Financial Advisers in Kalamazoo, Michigan says...

"There's no question that the economy is showing the negative effects of the stronger dollar and the collapse in oil prices. Corporate profits have come under pressure, and hiring has been adjusted in response,"

Mr. Tilley of Wilmington Trust remained optimistic says...

Although disappointing, we don’t think it portends a turnaround for the U.S. economy,”

IRAN NUKE DEAL: USA, 5 Other World Powers And Iran Agree On "Historic" Agreement!

Iran the USA and 5 other world powers reach a "Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action"

Capping exhausting and contentious marathon talks in Lausanne, Switzerland Iran the USA and 5 other world powers sealed a breakthrough agreement today outlining limits on Iran's nuclear program. The "Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action" or "JCPOA" is to keep Iran from producing atomic weapons. In return Iran was promised an end to years of crippling economic sanctions, but only if negotiators transform the plan into a comprehensive pact.

They will try to seal a final deal within the next three months.

In the meantime here is everything that is currently known about the framework of the "Iran Nuclear Deal"...

Parameters for a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Nuclear Program

Below are the key parameters of a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear program that were decided in Lausanne, Switzerland. These elements form the foundation upon which the final text of the JCPOA will be written between now and June 30, and reflect the significant progress that has been made in discussions between the P5+1, the European Union, and Iran. Important implementation details are still subject to negotiation, and nothing is agreed until everything is agreed. We will work to conclude the JCPOA based on these parameters over the coming months.

  • Iran has agreed to reduce by approximately two-thirds its installed centrifuges. Iran will go from having about 19,000 installed today to 6,104 installed under the deal, with only 5,060 of these enriching uranium for 10 years. All 6,104 centrifuges will be IR-1s, Iran’s first-generation centrifuge.

  • Iran has agreed to not enrich uranium over 3.67 percent for at least 15 years.

  • Iran has agreed to reduce its current stockpile of about 10,000 kg of low-enriched uranium (LEU) to 300 kg of 3.67 percent LEU for 15 years.

  • All excess centrifuges and enrichment infrastructure will be placed in IAEA monitored storage and will be used only as replacements for operating centrifuges and equipment.

  • Iran has agreed to not build any new facilities for the purpose of enriching uranium for 15 years.

  • Iran’s breakout timeline – the time that it would take for Iran to acquire enough fissile material for one weapon – is currently assessed to be 2 to 3 months. That timeline will be extended to at least one year, for a duration of at least ten years, under this framework.

Iran will convert its facility at Fordow so that it is no longer used to enrich uranium

  • Iran has agreed to not enrich uranium at its Fordow facility for at least 15 years.

  • Iran has agreed to convert its Fordow facility so that it is used for peaceful purposes only – into a nuclear, physics, technology, research center.

  • Iran has agreed to not conduct research and development associated with uranium enrichment at Fordow for 15 years.

  • Iran will not have any fissile material at Fordow for 15 years.

  • Almost two-thirds of Fordow’s centrifuges and infrastructure will be removed. The remaining centrifuges will not enrich uranium. All centrifuges and related infrastructure will be placed under IAEA monitoring.

Iran will only enrich uranium at the Natanz facility, with only 5,060 IR-1 first-generation centrifuges for ten years

  • Iran has agreed to only enrich uranium using its first generation (IR-1 models) centrifuges at Natanz for ten years, removing its more advanced centrifuges.

  • Iran will remove the 1,000 IR-2M centrifuges currently installed at Natanz and place them in IAEA monitored storage for ten years.

  • Iran will not use its IR-2, IR-4, IR-5, IR-6, or IR-8 models to produce enriched uranium for at least ten years. Iran will engage in limited research and development with its advanced centrifuges, according to a schedule and parameters which have been agreed to by the P5+1.

  • For ten years, enrichment and enrichment research and development will be limited to ensure a breakout timeline of at least 1 year. Beyond 10 years, Iran will abide by its enrichment and enrichment R&D plan submitted to the IAEA, and pursuant to the JCPOA, under the Additional Protocol resulting in certain limitations on enrichment capacity.

 Inspections and Transparency

  • The IAEA will have regular access to all of Iran’s nuclear facilities, including to Iran’s enrichment facility at Natanz and its former enrichment facility at Fordow, and including the use of the most up-to-date, modern monitoring technologies.

  • Inspectors will have access to the supply chain that supports Iran’s nuclear program. The new transparency and inspections mechanisms will closely monitor materials and/or components to prevent diversion to a secret program.

  • Inspectors will have access to uranium mines and continuous surveillance at uranium mills, where Iran produces yellowcake, for 25 years.

  • Inspectors will have continuous surveillance of Iran’s centrifuge rotors and bellows production and storage facilities for 20 years. Iran’s centrifuge manufacturing base will be frozen and under continuous surveillance.

  • All centrifuges and enrichment infrastructure removed from Fordow and Natanz will be placed under continuous monitoring by the IAEA.

  • A dedicated procurement channel for Iran’s nuclear program will be established to monitor and approve, on a case by case basis, the supply, sale, or transfer to Iran of certain nuclear-related and dual use materials and technology – an additional transparency measure.

  • Iran has agreed to implement the Additional Protocol of the IAEA, providing the IAEA much greater access and information regarding Iran’s nuclear program, including both declared and undeclared facilities.

  • Iran will be required to grant access to the IAEA to investigate suspicious sites or allegations of a covert enrichment facility, conversion facility, centrifuge production facility, or yellowcake production facility anywhere in the country. • Iran has agreed to implement Modified Code 3.1 requiring early notification of construction of new facilities.

  • Iran will implement an agreed set of measures to address the IAEA’s concerns regarding the Possible Military Dimensions (PMD) of its program.

Reactors and Reprocessing

  • Iran has agreed to redesign and rebuild a heavy water research reactor in Arak, based on a design that is agreed to by the P5+1, which will not produce weapons grade plutonium, and which will support peaceful nuclear research and radioisotope production.

  • The original core of the reactor, which would have enabled the production of significant quantities of weapons-grade plutonium, will be destroyed or removed from the country.

  • Iran will ship all of its spent fuel from the reactor out of the country for the reactor’s lifetime.

  • Iran has committed indefinitely to not conduct reprocessing or reprocessing research and development on spent nuclear fuel.

  • Iran will not accumulate heavy water in excess of the needs of the modified Arak reactor, and will sell any remaining heavy water on the international market for 15 years.

  • Iran will not build any additional heavy water reactors for 15 years.

  • Iran will receive sanctions relief, if it verifiably abides by its commitments.

  • U.S. and E.U. nuclear-related sanctions will be suspended after the IAEA has verified that Iran has taken all of its key nuclear-related steps. If at any time Iran fails to fulfill its commitments, these sanctions will snap back into place.

  • The architecture of U.S. nuclear-related sanctions on Iran will be retained for much of the duration of the deal and allow for snap-back of sanctions in the event of significant non-performance.

  • All past UN Security Council resolutions on the Iran nuclear issue will be lifted simultaneous with the completion, by Iran, of nuclear-related actions addressing all key concerns (enrichment, Fordow, Arak, PMD, and transparency).

  • However, core provisions in the UN Security Council resolutions – those that deal with transfers of sensitive technologies and activities – will be re-established by a new UN Security Council resolution that will endorse the JCPOA and urge its full implementation. It will also create the procurement channel mentioned above, which will serve as a key transparency measure. Important restrictions on conventional arms and ballistic missiles, as well as provisions that allow for related cargo inspections and asset freezes, will also be incorporated by this new resolution.

  • A dispute resolution process will be specified, which enables any JCPOA participant, to seek to resolve disagreements about the performance of JCPOA commitments.

  • If an issue of significant non-performance cannot be resolved through that process, then all previous UN sanctions could be re-imposed.

  • U.S. sanctions on Iran for terrorism, human rights abuses, and ballistic missiles will remain in place under the deal.

  • For ten years, Iran will limit domestic enrichment capacity and research and development – ensuring a breakout timeline of at least one year. Beyond that, Iran will be bound by its longer-term enrichment and enrichment research and development plan it shared with the P5+1.

  • For fifteen years, Iran will limit additional elements of its program. For instance, Iran will not build new enrichment facilities or heavy water reactors and will limit its stockpile of enriched uranium and accept enhanced transparency procedures.

  • Important inspections and transparency measures will continue well beyond 15 years. Iran’s adherence to the Additional Protocol of the IAEA is permanent, including its significant access and transparency obligations. The robust inspections of Iran’s uranium supply chain will last for 25 years.

  • Even after the period of the most stringent limitations on Iran’s nuclear program, Iran will remain a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which prohibits Iran’s development or acquisition of nuclear weapons and requires IAEA safeguards on its nuclear program.

President Obama has already spoken with the Saudi king and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concerning the deal. He also announced that he was inviting the leaders of six Gulf nations - Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait - to Washington this spring.

Now, let's just hope the Republicans don't continue to try to kill this deal in the crib like they've been trying to do for the last several months... Fingers crossed.
