|Sandy Rios: A special kind of crazy|
A preliminary investigation of the accident shows that the train was traveling at 100mph, double the recommended speed, as it rounded the curve. There still has been no concrete reason given for the increased speed nor has it been determined that it was the cause of the deadly accident.
Yet, according to Fox News regular and conservative radio host Sandy Rios it was quite possible that it was the sexual orientation of Amtrak engineer that doomed the ill fated train. Rios made it abundantly clear when she opined on her radio show that the sexuality of the man who helmed the train was most definitely “a factor” in it's crash.
Rios levied the charges against the engineer after she found out that he had campaigned against California’s ban on same-sex marriage which I guess in Rio's mind is a dead giveaway that you are gay. Once that damning bit of information was established Rios went on to say...
“I am not inferring to [sic] those of you who are gay rights activists and who like to monitor this show, I’m not inferring that this accident happened because he was gay... But I do think it’s an interesting part of the story, and I bet it will be edited out. I don’t know but I think it is something to be discussed and I think it’s a factor and I doubt you will hear it anywhere else.”
Rios then went off the reservation and paralleled the Amtrak train derailment with a story about someone she claims she knew who underwent a gender transition and also worked in transportation. She characterized this other individual as “going through some confusion that has to do with the very core of who they are.”
“Someone I know who worked for a very large airline started taking hormone shots and put his entire plane at risk because he had an emotional, angry outburst to something that happened,”
You can listen to Rios' sick, idiotic and hateful rant here…
Besides her radio show Rios is also, unsurprisingly, a Fox News contributor who was listed on Fox's website as an active contributor as recently as Yesterday. Rios is also the director of government affairs at the American Family Association, which has been labeled a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
