Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal In All 50 States!!!!!

It is official and it's about damn time!

In a 5-4 decision States cannot keep same-sex couples from marrying and must recognize their unions.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, seen as a pivotal swing vote in the case, wrote the majority opinion saying…

"They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law… The Constitution grants them that right."

Lead plaintiff Jim Obergefell, who challenged Ohio's ban on same-sex marriage that brought this to the Supreme Court said of todays ruling that it…

"affirms what millions across this country already know to be true in their hearts: our love is equal… the four words etched onto the front of the Supreme Court — 'equal justice under law' — apply to us, too."

Speaking at the White House, President Obama praised the Supreme Court's ruling, saying it arrived
"like a thunderbolt" and that the court's decision was...

"It's a victory for gay and lesbian couples who fought so long for their basic civil rights. It's a victory for their children whose families will now be recognized as equal to any other. And this ruling is a victory for America. There's so much more work to be done to extend the full promise of every American. But today we can say in no uncertain terms that we've made our union a little more perfect"

In summation: Today the Supreme Court of the United States proclaimed that Same-sex couples now have the right to marry nationwide handing a crowning victory to the gay rights movement and setting off a jubilant cascade of long-delayed weddings in states where they had been forbidden…. It is a great day!
