Republicans In The Senate And The Congress Shoot Down Any New Gun Control Legislation

GOP determine that terrorists, felons and the mentally ill are fine to legally purchase guns
Today both the Senate and the Congress attempted to either pass or discus passing legislation that would prevent suspected terrorists, felons and the mentally ill from purchasing guns in the US... Which is legal at this very moment!!!!

Senate Republicans rejected an amendment proposed by California Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein, which she has also introduced as a separate piece of legislation, that would allow the attorney general to block the sale or transfer of a gun or explosive to a suspected or known terrorist if the individual is believed to use the weapons in an act of terrorism.

Stoping suspected or known terrorists from being able to buy guns sounds like a no-brainer right?

Nope. Republicans blocked the vote by a margin of 45-54.

Also today...

Republicans in the Congress blocked any debate on a bill that would close a loophole allowing suspected terrorists to legally buy guns. Even the Republican who authored the bill, Rep. Pete King (R-L.I.), voted with his colleagues against it.

House Republicans declared that they will not be moving to bring up new gun control legislation any time in the near of distant future... Or ever.

Republican speaker Paul Ryan said government officials put people on such lists without any due legal process and so denying those listed the right to bear arms would violate their rights. He said that if someone is suspected of plotting an attack, law enforcement officials should arrest them adding that there shouldn't be a rush due to the risk of...

"...infringing upon the rights of law-abiding citizens...We just want to get it right"

In other words: In the eyes of Republicans the rights of the victims of mass shootings take a back seat to any terrorists, felons or mentally ill person who needs a gun today.
