Gun Control: American Gun Owners Stand With The President!

The President unveiling his executive actions on gun control from the White House

Last week President Obama rolled out his package of executive actions on guns in an emotional address from the White House.

Some of the changes the president put forth include clarifying rules meant to broaden the use of background checks by private sellers, allocating money for mental health treatment, and adding more staff at the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to help enforce existing regulations.

Though the proposed changes are modest in scope it did not deter Obama's critics from railing against the proposals calling him a "lawless president" and a "tyrant" and denouncing his proposals as nothing more than a "gun grab".

But in the address the president predicted that the public would be on his side saying his actions would be supported by an...

"overwhelming majority of the American people, including gun owners,"

Is he right?

Much to the chagrin of gun-humpers everywhere a new CNN-ORC survey says he is!

The survey found that the public supports Obama's plan by a 2-to-1 ratio: 67 percent of respondents favored the executive actions, while 32 percent opposed them. Even more striking, a similar share of people in gun-owning households -- 63 percent -- supported the measures.

Here are the results...

What is mind blowing about this survey is that 51 percent of Republicans support Obama's executive action on gun control. When was the last time over half of the Republicans agreed with the President on anything!

Also, how was the NRA and the gun lobby able to vilify this issue to the point where every single Republican presidential candidate has vowed to undo any actions taken by this president when only 1/3 of the public agree with them.

Apparently the right wing outrage machine is really good at their job.
