|Oooh, you can just feel the tension in this photo.|
I guess we all now know what the Republican's New Year’s resolutions are this year.
It looks like it’s going to be a bit of the same old song and dance for the 2016 GOP congress as they have already vowed that their first order of business upon returning to Capitol Hill will be to send President Obama bills that defund Planned Parenthood and repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Despite 60 plus failed attempts to repeal the health care law and a recently failed effort to defund Planned Parenthood, Republicans still feel the need to waste another year of the taxpayers time and money.
In addition to these aforementioned failures there is also the fact that Obama would no doubt veto any bills that attack either institution. Yet the right wingers seem fully determined to continue banging their dull heads against a wall instead of trying to pass any meaningful legislation.
When asked why they persist in this political charade Republicans claim they are merely fulfilling promises made to their constituents.
House Speaker and beard aficionado Paul Ryan, R-Wis., told conservative talk host Bill Bennett over the holidays...
“You're going to see us put a bill on the president's desk going after ObamaCare and Planned Parenthood so we'll finally get a bill on his desk to veto."
“We were sent to Congress to fight for the American people. They do not want their healthcare dictated to them by Washington. And they don't want their tax dollars going to abortion providers. … If the president didn't hear the people's voices earlier, hopefully, he will through this bill.”
In the meantime the president plans next week to tighten gun control, a position backed by all three Democratic presidential candidates... and none of the multitude of Republican opposition.
Other goodies the right wingers have in store for show and tell this year include the House trying to pass a bill crippling the refugee program and the Benghazi committee continuing its pointless 605 day $5,553,621.00 dollar investigation with an interview of former CIA Director David Petraeus on Jan. 6.
Albert Einstein is widely credited with saying “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”... Just saying.
