Obama Pledges To Stop The "Epidemic Of Gun Violence" Through Executive Action

"Tens of thousands of our fellow Americans have been mowed down by gun violence.”

In his weekly address President Obama has stated that he will be looking for ways to keep guns out of the hands of "a dangerous few" in his remaining year in office. Obama said his New Year's resolution is to move forward on unfinished business.

"That's especially true for one piece of unfinished business, that's our epidemic of gun violence,"

In the address he also hinted that he would not be averse to using executive actions if needed. Employing this strategy would simplify the process since it would completely bypass the Republicans in the Congress who are totally beholden to the NRA, the gun lobby and their gun loving constituency.

President Obama says he'll meet his attorney general, Loretta Lynch, on Monday to see what actions might be possible.

Here is the President in his own words...

A source familiar with the administration's efforts said Obama is expected to take executive action as early as next week.

...Aaaaaaand cue the right wing going berserk.
