After two years and over $7 million dollars, the House Select Committee on Benghazi released it's 800 page report that state's that it found no evidence of wrongdoing by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Obama or his administration.
This revelation comes after 7 previous Republican led investigations and one non-partisan agency review were unable to prove any malfeasance by either the President or his Secretary Of State in the Benghazi terrorist attack. Thinking they could unearth something, anything, the House voted to create a brand new tax payer funded partisan inquisition to investigate the events surrounding the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya.
But all the new report revealed was that the administration’s response to the terror attacks was at worst flawed, but not malicious or in any way derelict.
Showing just how empty handed the committee came up when asked at a press conference today whether Americans who read the report should find culpability for Clinton, the select committee’s chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy basically declined to comment.
The belief among most American's was that the House Committee was created solely for the purpose of damaging Hillary Clinton’s run for the office of President by linking her to the vicious attack that killed four Americans, including her close friend Ambassador Chris Stevens.
This was evidenced last year when House Majority Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) admitted that the entire endeavor was a sham when he mistakenly revealed this bit of information in a live interview...
“Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable."
After that, making it all the more clear, a committee staffer threatened to file a lawsuit after he claimed he was fired when he refused to target Secretary Clinton saying that the committee was focused predominantly on the role of the State Department and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The if further proof was needed the 11 hour televised grilling of Secretary Clinton should just about put and end to any doubts.
In any event, if anyone was still hoping for even a sherd of evidence of wrongdoing by Secretary Clinton they would only have to look at the timing of the reports release to divine that there isn't any. Believe me, if there had been any culpability in the report it would have been released at a time in which it would have inflicted maximum damage to her campaign. The committee instead chose to bury it several weeks before the DNC and several months before any voting was to begin.
Democrats, who were excluded from the GOP’s report and claim they still have not seen a full copy of it, countered with the release of their own report on Monday which can be read HERE.
To give some context into just how partisan this issue has become a poll by conducted at Fairleigh Dickinson University shows, 50 percent of Donald Trump supporters believe that not only did Secretary Clinton know the attack was going to happen she deliberately did nothing to stop it when it did.
One can only hope that with this last gasp final report the lies about Clinton and #Benghazi have been extinguished even though we all know the Republican's conspiracy theories will never die.
Despite the complete lack of evidence don’t doubt for a second that there won’t be a lot of fresh condemnation for Republicans to shovel around.
