It was more than an endorsement though.
In the speech she commented on America and the changes that it has seen as shown through both her and her husband's tenure in the White House as President and First Lady...
"That is the story of this country. The story that has brought me to this stage tonight. The story of generations of people who felt the lash of bondage, the shame of servitude, the sting of segregation but kept on hoping and striving and doing what needed to be done so that today I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves"
Moving words delivered with grace and honesty.
But it wasn't enough for a certain Fox News host who didn't care for Mrs. Obama's carelessness with the facts.
Bill O’Reilly felt it necessary to add a clarification to sooth his rankled audience and set Obama straight. You see the White House wasn’t built entirely by slaves and the slaves that did were damn happy!
Here was O’Reilly's explanation...
"Slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slave labor in 1802. However, the feds did not forbid subcontractors from using slave labor. So, Michelle Obama is essentially correct in citing slaves as builders of the White House, but there were others working as well."
Watch O’Reilly spew his wisdom here care of MMFA...
So i guess that pretty much renders Michelle Obama's entire speech pointless.
