Cracks In The Armor: First Republican Congressman Breaks With GOP And Trump, Will Cast His Vote For Hilary Clinton

Republican representative Richard Hanna has broken ranks with his party and will endorse Hillary Clinton for President of the United States.

By throwing his support behind Mrs. Clinton, he becomes the first Republican member of Congress to go beyond disavowing Mr. Trump and making the leap to joining forces with the Democrats against him.

Hanna, a Republican of New York, cited Trump’s attacks on Khizr and Ghazala Khan whose son, Army Captain Humayun Khan, died while fighting in Iraq as the reason for his defection.

Mr. Hanna made his statement in an interview and opinion column on Syracuse.com calling Mr. Trump “unfit to serve”...

In his latest foray of insults, Mr. Trump has attacked the parents of a slain U.S. soldier. Where do we draw the line? For me, it is not enough to simply denounce his comments: He is unfit to serve our party and cannot lead this country.

Though Mr. Hanna said he disagreed with Mrs. Clinton on “many issues,” he maintained that he would indeed cast his vote for her anyway.

She stands and has stood for causes bigger than herself for a lifetime. That matters.

Before we all view Mr. Hanna as a towering profile in courage let it be known that he was scheduled to retire from Congress at the end of his term anyway which takes a lot of the edge off his actions.

That being said there is still no denying that his support for Mrs. Clinton is yet another bright blinking neon warning sign signaling the Republican Party's dissatisfaction with Mr. Trump.
