Donald Trump Named 2016 By Winning Time’s Person Of The Year... No, I Wish I Were Kidding (VIDEO)

Time has named President-elect Donald Trump its 2016 Person of the Year.

The publication’s annual selection is determined by Time magazine editors and highlights a person, group, idea or object that had the most influence on news that year. The tradition began in 1927.

Time's managing editor Nancy Gibbs wrote about the magazine’s decision on the magazine's website...

For reminding America that demagoguery feeds on despair and that truth is only as powerful as the trust in those who speak it, for empowering a hidden electorate by mainstreaming its furies and live-streaming its fears, and for framing tomorrow’s political culture by demolishing yesterday’s, Donald Trump is TIME’s 2016 Person of the Year.

After Gibbs revealed that Trump was the winner on the “Today Show" this morning Trump immediately called in to the show to discuss the "great honor"...

"It means a lot. It’s a very important magazine. I consider this a very, very great honor.

It is difficult to deny Trump’s impact this year considering what his divisive politics, reality TV presence and racist, bigoted and misogynistic comments have done to our country.

Time announced that Hillary Clinton had been selected as the runner-up Person of the Year.

Yeah, that hurts.
