SAY WHAT? Ben Carson Just Referred To Slaves As “Immigrants” Who Had A Dream Of "Prosperity And Happiness"

While speaking to department employees Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson referred to slaves as "immigrants".

Carson made the comments while extolling the virtues of the “can-do” American society which was best exemplified by slaves, whom he characterized as immigrants who came to the United States with very little and worked very hard...

Here is Carson's explanation in his debut as HUD Secretary...

"That's what America is about, a land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters, might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land."

Watch Benny say it here...

Wow... He's just freaking nuts.

Later Monday, Carson defended his comments in a tweet...

The NAACP wasn't having it...
