Yeah, about that.
As it turns out U.S. Vice President Mike Pence routinely used a private email account to conduct public business as governor of Indiana.
Emails released to the Indianapolis Star in response to a public records request show Pence communicated via private email account to discuss sensitive matters including homeland security issues.
The obtained emails show Pence sent and received correspondence that included topics ranging from security gates at the governor’s residence to the state’s response to terror attacks across the globe. In one email, Pence’s top state homeland security adviser relayed an update from the FBI regarding the arrests of several men on federal terror-related charges.
The Star also reported that the account had been hacked last summer.
Though it was clarified that after Pence was hacked in June by a scammer, who sent a plea for money to his email contacts, the governor set up a new AOL account, the Star reported.
After the story broke Pence's office sent out a written statement today declaring...
"Similar to previous governors, during his time as Governor of Indiana, Mike Pence maintained a state email account and a personal email account,"
Pence's office went on to say that he had directed outside counsel to review all of his communications as Indiana governor to ensure that state-related emails were being transferred and properly archived by the state.
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb's office released 29 pages of emails from Pence's AOL account, but declined to release an unspecified number of others because the state considers them confidential and too sensitive to release to the public.
I imagine the Republican run the House Oversight Committee that hounded Hillary Clinton like a pack of rabid dogs over her private email will begin hearings concerning this matter, oh let's say, never.
