This after he took time out of a day, when he could have been golfing, to personally threaten members of his own party and their careers if they didn't vote for his almost universally maligned bill.
How could they resist his art of the deal?!?!
And now as a result of their treachery, Obamacare is the law of the land for the foreseeable future.
Someone has to pay and apparently Trump feels it should be the man who's name adorns the very health care act that mocks him with it's mere existence.
So in a petty act of revenge Trump rolled back four more Obama-era regulations reversing rules on education, land use and labor because why not.
Trump did the deed under the guise of fulfilling his promise to...
"remove every job-killing regulation we can find,"
Let's take a look at what Trump shot down out of spite...
First was the "Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces" rule. This regulation, that President Obama enacted through an executive order in 2014, barred companies from receiving federal contracts if they had a history of violating wage, labor or workplace safety laws.
With the rule wiped off the books, Trump then signed another executive order revoking Obama's order and directing agencies to rescind any policies implementing it.
Second on the chopping block was a Bureau of Land Management rule known as "Planning 2.0," that gave the federal government a bigger role in land use decisions. This initiative aimed to increase public involvement and incorporate the most current data and technology into our land use planning. The rule was opposed by the energy industry so that had to go.
Then Trump pulled a double when he reversed two regulations on measuring school performance and teacher training under the Every Student Succeeds Act, that Obama signed in 2015 with bipartisan support.
That one should really spur job growth don't you think?
Trump's actions effectively precludes federal action on any of those rules, since the administration is now barred from issuing any new rule that is "substantially similar" to the ones that were just overturned.
The petulant little turd then spitefully promised that even more "regulation-cutting" bills were on the way.
Trump enacted his revenge by using something called "the Congressional Review Act" that allows Congress to fast-track a bills to reverse regulations and which had been used successfully only once in its 21-year history.
Trump has now reversed a total of seven bills all of which were President Obama's.
Besides the four bills overturned today Trump reversed three others including regulations that banned Social Security recipients with a mental impairment from buying a firearm, restricting the dumping of mining waste in streams and rivers, and killing a requirement that mandated energy companies to disclose how much they're paying foreign governments.
All in a days work.
After Trump signed the bills he handed out pens to members of Congress and said aloud...
"This was a lot of work by a lot of people to get this done. It will lead to a lot more jobs for a lot more people."
Don't bet on it.
