TRUMP BOMBS SYRIA (VIDEO)

Donald Trump has had the U.S. military launch its first direct attack at the Syrian government tonight

This strike marks an escalation of American involvement in the country’s six-year civil war.

After two days of deliberation, President Donald Trump authorized the military to launch 59 cruise missiles at the Shayrat Air Base in Syria.

In an unconventional looking video broadcast from a ballroom in his Mar-A-Lago resort Trump spoke of cruelly murdered "beautiful babies"...

Assad choked out the lives of helpless men, women and children. Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered at this very barbaric attack. No child of God should ever suffer such horror.

FACT CHECK: Remember that these are the same "beautiful babies" that would have been banned form entering our country under Trump's two proposed Muslim bans.

Trump went on to speak about refugees and terrorism...

"Years of previous attempts at changing Assad's behavior have all failed, and failed very dramatically. As a result, the refugee crisis continues to deepen and region continues to destabilise, threatening the Unites States and its allies. Tonight I called on all civilised nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria, and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types"

Here is the video of the full statement...

The military strike was conducted in retaliation for a chemical weapon attack which killed at least 70 people in the opposition-held town of Khan Sheikhoun on Tuesday.

The chemical attack was allegedly carried out by Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime from the Shayrat base that was bombed tonight.

Reports have surfaced that the Trump administration alerted the Russians of the upcoming attack.

Tonight's strike is a direct 180 degree shift from Trump's previous stance on Syria. When Syria used chemical weapons while President Obama was in office Trump famously warned him a multitude of times against taking any actions against the Assad regime.
