In an interview with the Associated Press, Trump somehow thought it prudent to trot out this comparison paralleling his presence on Sunday news shows ratings to that of the world changing tragedy.
In the interview the reality TV host bragged first about his appearance on CNN with Wolf Blitzer, which was viewed by 9.2 million people. But it was when he began to brag about his appearance on CBS’s John Dickerson’s show ‘Face the Nation,’ is were it goes off the rails
He could have just cited the ratings but for some reason he just had to make the unbelievably inappropriate comparison...
"It had 9.2 million people. It’s the highest they’ve ever had. On any, on air, [CBS’s John] Dickerson had 5.2 million people. It’s the highest for ‘Face the Nation’ or as I call it, ‘Deface the Nation’. It’s the highest for ‘Deface the Nation’ since the World Trade Center. Since the World Trade Center came down. It’s a tremendous advantage."
On 9/11/2001, four passenger airliners were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists. The planes were then flown into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon killing 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others, and caused at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage and $3 trillion in total costs.
It was the worst terrorist attack on the United states in it's history -- Or as Trump sees it -- The greatest ratings boost cable news has ever had... besides himself.
