|Trump and his pals watch missiles launched from a ship in the Mediterranean.|
The above photograph, which was tweeted out by the White House, is a pathetic and obvious attempt to mimic the now iconic 2011 image of President Obama surrounded by his top military staff and officials as they watched the live feed of the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound.
In the picture we see Donald Trump giving his best impression of a serious person while he supposedly watches his first big boy military operation on the TV. The shot was apparently taken at a makeshift "Situation Room" fashioned out of an event planning room on the grounds of his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. In the photo he is surrounded by other very serious looking aides seated on the type of faux-bamboo gold painted chairs you might see at a tropical-themed wedding fresh from dinner in the club's lavish dining room.
The imagery the Trump team was trying to invoke was that of the tensioned filled gathering inside the Situation Room as they watched a live feed of seal team 6 raiding Osama bin Laden’s Pakistan compound and ultimately killing the terrorist leader. The 2011 photo was taken in the White House Situation Room's 5,000 sq-ft conference room in the basement of the West Wing.
Here is the picture for comparison...

The similarity is painfully awkward and ham handed. The comparison is laughable.
You might have noticed that Vice President Mike Pence, Defense Secretary James Mattis, and Gen. Joseph Dunford, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff were not invited to the photo-op. But don't worry, Sean "alternative facts" Spicer claimed they all were participating by secure video conference feeds.
