Trump Says US Will Drop Out Of NAFTA... Oops! Strike That... Trump Says US Staying In NAFTA

In a speech given less that a week ago Donald Trump echoed his campaign promise to withdraw the US from the North American Trade Agreement (NAFTA) when he said "NAFTA has been a disaster" and that "NAFTA has been very very bad".

Today, adhering to the sentiments of those comments, the Trump administration claimed that a draft order for removing the US from NAFTA had been submitted for a final review and could be unveiled late this week or early next week.

Fast forward six hours.

Tonight, after a phone with the leaders of Canada and Mexico, Trump has stated that he was not planning to end the North American Free Trade Agreement.

In a description of Trump's phone calls to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Enrique Peña Nieto, the White House said Trump...

"agreed not to terminate NAFTA at this time and the leaders agreed to proceed swiftly, according to their required internal procedures, to enable the renegotiation of the NAFTA deal to the benefit of all three countries."

The White House said the phone conversations were "pleasant and productive".

That is all, nothing to see here, keep moving.

Another campaign promise bites the dust. The con-man strikes again!
