President Obama Warned Donald Trump Against Hiring Michael Flynn For His Ties To Russia

It has come to light that President Barack Obama warned Donald Trump about hiring retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn during a meeting in November 2016.

It was reported President Obama delivered the warning about Flynn's ties to Russia during a 90-minute meeting in the Oval Office with Donald Trump just two days after his inauguration.

Obama cautioned Trump about hiring Flynn, who apparently disregarded the sage advice, as he later brought Flynn on as his national security adviser anyway.

Flynn was forced to resign a little more than three weeks after the hiring for lying about  -- you guessed it -- his ties to Russia.

In addition to those ties it was revealed Flynn had received income from RT in 2015, a state-run television channel formerly known as Russia Today, which he did not initially declare and that Flynn's company, the Flynn Intel Group, had been paid more than a half-million dollars to lobby on behalf of projects that benefited the Turkish government in 2016.

Trying to deflect the mounting stories of his incompetence Trump attacked President Obama for giving Flynn security clearance tweeting...

What Trump leaves out is that not only did President Obama fire Flynn from his position as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency in his administration in 2014 over reported poor leadership but Flynn's security clearances were only granted because he lied when he filled out Section 20 of his SF-86, the federal government’s national security questionnaire when he omitted payments from foreign governments.

When Trump's tweet was debunked he then once again tried to deflect any blame by claiming that he believed Obama's remark seemed like it was "in jest" and that Trump thought Obama was "ribbing" him by advising against hiring Flynn.

During his daily press briefing Monday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer confirmed the stories of President Obama's warning saying...

it’s true President Obama made it known he wasn’t exactly a fan of Gen. Flynn’s,

News of Obama’s warning to Trump broke just hours before former acting Attorney General Sally Yates testified in front of the Senate subcommittee that she too warned the White House on multiple occasions about Flynn and his ties to Russia.
