Trump Has Fired FBI Director James Comey

Donald Trump has fired FBI Director James Comey.

Comey, up until today's dismissal, had been leading the FBI's investigation into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to influence the presidential election.

In addition Comey's firing comes as he was slated to testify before the House Intelligence Committee this coming Thursday.

Trump absurdly claimed that the reason for Comey's firing stems from his Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the recently confirmed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein whom allegedly recommended Comey be removed due to his handling of the Hillary Clinton private email server investigation. An investigation that concluded last July and found that Clinton had committed no crime.

The reasoning for Comey's dismissal is not only unbelievable it is laughable as Trump has not only voiced his approval of Comey's actions concerning how he handled the Clinton investigation but had remarked that the only thing that upset him about it was that Comey did not indict her.

FACT CHECK: AG Sessions had recused himself from any and all FBI investigations into the Trump/Russia investigation and the Hillary Clinton server investigation.

Comey, a Republican who formerly served as deputy attorney general during the President George W. Bush administration, had been leading the FBI’s investigation into possible ties between Trump associates and Moscow since July.

He is only the second FBI director in history to be formally terminated.

Effective immediately, deputy director Andrew McCabe assumed the position of acting director of the F.B.I.

Due to this development Democrats have called for a special prosecutor to investigate the Trump/Russia matter.

There is blood in the water and fear in the air.
