Trump Folds On His Wall And Obamacare Promises As Lawmakers Reach A Deal To Fund The Government

U.S. congressional negotiators have apparently come to an agreement on a spending package to keep the federal government open and running through September.

The deal comes after the Republican-led Congress put off a U.S. government shutdown last Friday by voting to give themselves an additional week to work out federal spending over the final five months of the fiscal year.

The real news here is that Trump folded like a deck chair on his signature campaign promise to build his big beautiful wall as the current spending legislation for the rest of the fiscal year does not include a dime to start building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico boarder. You remember the wall that was so desperately needed to fight "the illegals" and stop the "bad hombre" drug smugglers?

In another blow to Trump's alleged deal-making skills the Democrats also got him to agreed to continue funding for a major component of Obamacare despite his vow to end the program.

Oh yeah, and Planned Parenthood is still funded as well.

So much winning.

All this just after Donald Trump held another one of his strokefest rallies yesterday in Pennsylvania in which he again vowed to topple Obamacare and promised to build the border wall between Mexico and the U.S. ...

“Don’t worry, we’re going to have the wall. Rest assured. Go home, go to sleep.

What a difference a day makes.

Despite those details it still isn't over yet as the House of Representatives and Senate must approve the deal before the end of Friday and send it to President Donald Trump for his signature to avoid the first government shutdown since 2013.
