Feeling the heat from the growing FBI probe looking into possible collusion between Russia and the Donald Trump campaign, son-in-law and senior advisor, Jared Kushner has lawyered up.
Kushner has reportedly retained the services of famed criminal trial lawyer Abbe Lowell.
Lowell has become famous for representing high profile figures like former vice-president nominee John Edwards, and GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Kushner is going to need all the help he can get after his meetings with the Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak and a Russian "banker" Sergey Gorkov.
It is apparent that Kushner hired Lowell due to his courtroom skills as opposed to his political leanings as he is no supporter of Kushner’s father-in-law.
In fact, Lowell donated and campaigned to get Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton, elected.
Last year, Lowell donated $2000 to the “Hillary Clinton for American” presidential campaign, $700 to Hillary Clinton Victory fund, and $1,000 to her 2008 presidential bid.
How close is Lowell to the Clintons?
Lowell even served as Chief Minority Counsel to Democrats in the House of Representatives during President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial.
In addition to Clinton, Federal Election Commission records indicate that Lowell has given money to Joe Lieberman, President Barack Obama, John Edwards, and Tom Daschle.
In any event Lowell should feel right at home as Jamie Gorelick, Kushner’s other attorney, who has also donated to the Hillary Clinton campaign.
Lowell is currently a partner at Chadbourne & Park and is currently representing the Democratic Senator of New Jersey Bob Menendez in his corruption case.
