Trump Plays Stupid With The Press About The "Comey Tape"... It Backfires Badly

Yesterday at a press conference in the White House Rose Garden Donald Trump was asked about the existence of the now infamous "Comey Tapes".

If you don't know the "Tapes" are supposed recording Trump took of private conversations between him and his former FBI Director James Comey.

He brought attention to them when he tweeted out a veiled threat to Comey after he had fired him...

So after Comey said of the mysterious recordings "Lordy, I hope there are tapes" during his testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee the assembled media wanted to know what Donald's take on the matter was and why he hasn't released the tapes if they did exist.

Trump answered them with this...

I’m not hinting at anything. I’ll tell you about it over a short period of time."

When another reporter asked when he might release them Trump coyly said...

I’ll tell you about that in the very near future

When a third reported simply asked why he wouldn't verify whether or not the tapes even existed Trump demurred...

I’ll tell you about that maybe sometime in the near future. You're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer, don’t worry,"

Well if Trump wanted to play games he got some takers.

As of yesterday afternoon the House Intelligence Committee, who are investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, has given White House counsel Don McGahn until June 23rd to hand over any recordings that may exist.
