On Monday Donald Trump, while speaking at a press gathering to introduce his new Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly, made the made the claim that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto had called him to "compliment" him on his boarder policies...
“Even the president of Mexico called me. They said their southern border, very few people are coming because they know they’re not going to get through our border, which is the ultimate compliment,”
Today Mexico publicly rejected Trump’s claim stating that the alleged phone call never took place.
Mexico’s foreign affairs ministry issued a statement denying that such a call never happened and declared that the two leaders had no recent communications by phone.
When asked about the contradictory accounts during a press briefing later in the day, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Trump was actually referring to a meeting during the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, last month.
When pressed on the truthfulness of Trump's claim Sanders said...
“I wouldn’t say it was a lie,”
No she wouldn't because Trump would fire her if she did... Also she has no moral compass or integrity.
Though Trump and Peña Nieto did meet at the G-20 summit, Mexico's official characterized of their conversation is the polar opposite of what Trump is alleging.
The dispute over the alleged call between the two presidents comes close on the heels of another controversy surrounding Trump’s lie over a nonexistent call he received from the Boy Scouts of American concerning a speech he gave at their Jamboree last month.
