|"HALP! I have no idea who this man is!?!?!"|
In recent weeks we have seen how Donald Trump's White House tries to diminish the roles of past employees who have run afoul of Special Prosecutor Mueller's investigation.
In the three cases (so far) of George Papadopoulos, Paul Manafort and Rick Gates word is immediately disseminated that either the guilty parties didn't work for the campaign long or that their importance was tantamount to that of a coffee boy.
Well the Trumpers are doing it again.
After Michael Flynn pled guilty on Friday morning by Friday night the White House had spun and downplayed Michael Flynn's role as Donald Trump's campaign advisor and then national security advisor by saying he wasn’t on the job for very long and that he was actually an “Obama administration official”!
Trump lawyer Ty Cobb said of the Gen. Flynn's guilty plea...
"Today, Michael Flynn, a former National Security Advisor at the White House for 25 days during the Trump Administration, and a former Obama administration official, entered a guilty plea to a single count of making a false statement to the FBI,"
FACT CHECK: Ty Cobb released the previous statement in the typeface “Comic Sans,”.
After that bizarro world take on the situation the White House decided to go full nutter and claimed that despite Flynn's guilty plea for false statements to the FBI about his secret meeting with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak it was all above board because those meetings were...
“authorized by the Obama administration”
That bit of lunacy was quickly debunked after the media contacted former Obama officials.
This pathetic spin that Flynn was an employee of the Obama administration or was instructed by President Obama to meet with the Russian Ambassador flies in the face of reason. Not only did Obama fire Gen. Flynn from his job as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency but he also told Donald Trump two days after the 2016 election not to hire Flynn in the first damn place!
