Trump Rolls Back Protections That Prevent The Abuse Of The Elderly In Nursing Homes

On December 24th, Christmas eve, Donald Trump reversed an Obama era regulation that issued fines against nursing homes that harm residents or place them in grave risk of injury and abuse.

According to a report by The New York Times Trump rolled back the protocol at the request of the nursing home lobby that had complained that under President Barack Obama federal inspectors focused too excessively on catching their wrongdoing.

But they needn't fear any longer as now they can mistreat old people in their nursing homes without fear of any repercussions!

Toby Edelman, senior attorney for the Center for Medicare Advocacy, said of Trump's reversal...

They’ve pretty much emasculated enforcement, which was already weak,

A Kaiser Health News analysis of four years of federal inspection records shows 74% of nursing homes have been cited for lapses in infection control which is more than for any other type of health violation.

In fact four in every ten nursing homes have been cited at least once since 2013 for a serious violations.

So a very Merry Christmas to those that commit the crime of elder abuse from your pal Donny!

So for the 65 and up crowd that pulled the lever for Trump in 2016 you've received your wake-up call for 2020.
