Steve Bannon Subpoenaed By Special Counsel Robert Mueller And The House Intel Committee

Former Trump Campaign Manager and White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has received a subpoena from Robert Mueller.

Bannon, the ex-Breitbart chief, will face questions from the special counsel investigating Russian election interference.

Bannon, who received his subpoena last week, is now required to testify before the grand jury.

This is the first time Mueller has invoked a subpoena for a member of Donald Trump‘s team.

This development comes after Bannon appeared before Capitol Hill for a closed-door interview with the House Intel Committee in which he was set to be questioned about Russian election tampering.

Bannon, who appeared voluntarily before the committee for about 10 hours, refused to answer any questions as the White House effectively had put in place a gag rule to keep Bannon from talking about his time in the Trump campaign or White House.

This led the Intel Committee to issue a subpoena of their own.

Despite the move Bannon's counsel still refused to answer any questions concerning the time during the transition and his time in the administration.

It will be interesting to see how the committee handles this situation and if team Bannon tries the same maneuver when sitting before the Special Counsel.
