Donald Trump's staff secretary Rob Porter has resigned following newly published reports alleging that he physically battered and abused his two ex-wives.

Porter, who due to his domestic abuse charges never held security clearance, resigned from his post Wednesday.

Porter’s ex-wife, Jennifer Willoughby, said he emotionally, mentally and physically abused her, according to a report in The Daily Mail. In an incident that occurred on their 2010 honeymoon, after getting into an argument with her, Porter allegedly physically dragged her from the shower by the shoulders he could continue to verbally abuse her.

Porter’s first wife, Colbie Holderness, alleged that after throwing her to the ground Porter punched her in 2005. Holderness provided photos to the publication showing a black eye she said she sustained during the incident...

Both of Porter's ex-wives told CNN on Wednesday that they had reported the allegations of abuse to the FBI over the course of a routine background check for Porter.

Apparently it was widely known among Trump's top aides, including chief of staff John Kelly, that Porter had been facing troubles in obtaining security clearance after his ex-wives claims.

Here is the June 19, 2010, protective order Willoughby filed against Porter...

No action was ever taken to remove Porter from the staff.

Porter, for his part, has denied the allegations against him and states that he will no longer ...

"engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign,

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, who without a doubt knew of Porter's violence towards his wives, defended him in a statement and implored him not to resign saying...

Rob Porter is a man of true integrity and honor and I can’t say enough good things about him. He is a friend, a confidante, and a trusted professional. I am proud to serve alongside him.

Porter is allegedly now in a relationship with White House Director of Communications Hope Hicks who co-wrote John Kelly's above statement.

The White House has refused to clarify whether Donald Trump believes the allegations against Porter.
