In probably what he believed was an off the record comment Donald Trump revealed to journalist Lesley Stahl exactly why he maligns and attacks any and all media he disagrees with.
Stahl revealed the contents of their off camera conversation while she was speaking in front of a group of fellow journalists at the Deadline Club Awards Dinner in New York City earlier this week.
Stahl, who was the first television journalist to score an interview with Trump following his election victory, said she pressed him to explain his nonstop attacks against journalists.
Stahl said on stage alongside "PBS Newshour" anchor Judy Woodruff that this was the resulting exchange between the two...
"It's just me, my boss, and him... he has a huge office... and he's attacking the press. There were no cameras, there was nothing going on and I said, 'That is getting tired, why are you doing it? You're doing it over and over and it's boring. It's time to end that, you've won the nomination. And why do you keep hammering at this?' And he said: 'You know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.' So, put that in your head for a minute."

I think this was the forgone conclusion but for the segment of the population has this uncanny ability to suspend their disbelief for the sake of the man they voted for.
