THE IOWA CAUCUSES: Cruz Beats Trump, Clinton And Sanders Tie

Voters in Iowa cast the first ballots of the 2016 presidential election in caucuses across the state last night. They gathered at caucus sites to listen to speeches about the candidates and make their decisions. So begins the real race to the White House. Game on!

Here’s how it went down.

For the three Democrats running for the parties nomination it was a statistical draw between Clinton and Sanders with poor O'Malley getting wiped out. In the end, despite the results being the closest in Iowa Democratic caucus history, the Clinton camp claimed their slim victory and headed home.

As for the twelve (yes, twelve!) Republicans running for their parties nomination it came down to a three man race between the front runner Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. After trading leads throughout the night Texas Sen. Ted Cruz defeated Trump with Rubio nipping at the billionaires heels with a razor close third place finish.

As many experts will tell you the outcome of the Iowa state caucuses are more determinative on the Deocrats side as opposed to the Republicans. Either way I still have no idea how the results will effect the race due to the volatility of what had led up to it. It has been a crazy political season so far and shows no signs of normalcy in the near future.

After the New Hampshire caucuses next week the field for both parties should come into sharper focus... Hopefully... Maybe?... Probably not.
